lmao at both teams tonight. Absolutely loving it, because no-one can watch either of those teams whose a neutral and want United/Shalke to lose.

Both are horrible football teams. What an embarassment.

Must give you an idea of how your team is perceived by even a neutral.
Oh, these sour times.

No one admires resilience when you were just plain wrong all along - that's just twattishness.

That pretty much confirmed what I first thought, he took his weight out of the tackle so it wasn't dangerous as such but he definitely left his foot in on the player. Definitely a yellow and to be honest I'm not that fussed about players getting a red when they are so blatant about using a bouncing ball as an excuse to leave their foot in on an opponent.

When you leave your foot as Pepe did, you should not have a yeallow, but straight red and go take a shower...

Have to say the way the ground emptied near the end was pretty shite on Madrids behalf and I bet they switched the heaters off in the away end as well.

Wrong, his Chelsea side was so good, mauling us at Anfield in the league a few times, the Carling Cup final - finger to his lips, etc.
Obviously no one likes losing and Chelsea were the best team in the league for two seasons, it irritated me.

When he went to Inter and built such a great side, which really did have everything you could want - i just thought they were incredible and i couldn't help but be drawn to him as a manager.

My point was you can really acknowlege something for what it is, when you are a neutral - only once he had left the premiership i could subjectively analyse him and his teams, making himself a hate figure takes the pressure off his side and puts it firmly on him, its clever - for me he will go down as one of the all time greats in 20 years time.

Fair enough however I disagree with the hate figure point you make. He moulds his teams into strong characters on the pitch like himself (players have been quick to praise him for its beneficiaries in its psychological edge) but his teams do become spiteful to watch with their antics and harassment of opposing players.

I can see why Mourinho takes attention away from his team (especially after tonight's game) but I find it makes little difference when overtime there's a manifestation of Mourinho on the pitch in his players as well as him on the sidelines. He can't protect his players for their behaviour all the time by blaming or suggesting something else when people have just watched what happened.
Ahh, pressing refresh and waiting for news... just like the bad old days.

Liverpool porn, this.

anyone who's negative can fuck off

Wouldn't catch any United player diving ever

Let alone putting in a cheap shot off the ball.

And before you start trawling youtube I know you will be able to find equivalent incidents involving Liverpool players (you could probably get together a whole gallery just involving Gerrard) but when you are living in a glass house it is probably best not to start throwing stones ay?

Yeah not so much arguing with the colour of the card as with the shrieking about it being a dangerous leg-breaking tackle.

Had there been a standing leg in the way, it could easily have been broken. Not saying that it was a nailed on leg-breaker, but over the ball, studs up tackles like that have no place in football.

I don't know though, to be honest I reckon it was that high that it wasn't actually very dangerous. The tackles that risk breaking legs hit the shins/ankles of the standing leg and also have the player's body weight behind them. This tackle, as dirty and deserving of a red card as it may have been, was one at knee height/above the knee, well away from the standing leg and with a stretched out foot with the players weight leaning back. I can't see any way Alves could have broken his leg from that tackle.

Indeed, I find it baffling debating instances like this when a player moves his leg out of the way as to whether there was contact or not.... it's a wild high footed tackle, what, do people have to get contact in this instance ? so now a player has to close his eyes leave his leg in for it to be smashed so he can claim a foul ?.

Same theory occured a year or 2 ago with N'gog flying over a sliding tackle and got a peno, media was in uproar about him being a diver and there was no contact, fine, so if he was to stand there and have the player go through him would it have been a peno then ? does the fact that a player moved swiftly out of the way take anything from the wild lunge itself ?

But he didn't move his standing leg out of the way because the tackle was nowhere near it. In fact he didn't pull out at all to give him credit, he only had eyes for the ball. Unfortunately that was overshadowed by him rolling around on the floor like his ankle was broken, being stretchered off only to hop straight back up and run back onto the pitch.

Thought Barcelona deserved to win tonight. Only one team wanted to play football. But the way the Barca players surround the ref after every challenge is disgraceful. Players like Busquets, Dani Alves and Pedro are a punch of pansies, I thought Pepes challenge was a yellow not a red as well.

On a side note, Messi's goal. Unbelievable, he reallly is a freak.

Just posted in another thread about mancs. Yup. It's fuckin true. Sat next to him during the game and al you heard was how great Ronaldo/Jose are. But that bit about messi's 2nd goal really made me want to slap him

He wasn't like that before. Nor was Arbeloa. This is all down to Mourinho and his Pavlovian conditioning techniques. On some it works more than in others.

Another thing I was glad to pick up on regarding the crowd was that Barca didn't seem fazed at all by playing on away turf with very little support and just continued to do what they do well. This will hold them in good stead, when and if, they get to play the mancs at Wembley. And to quote Ron from the Swan all those years ago "we'll swamp the place" which they will, so this doing their own thing unperturbed by the crowd will hopefully give us...them, the right result.

Do you reckon the Mancs will end up with a much bigger amount of tickets somehow?

They'll both get the same club allocation but those floating around the ballots and touts I can only see the vast majority ending up in manc hands. I'd say the ratio will be about 4 or 5 to 1 I reckon on the night.

Don't be fucking ridiculous.

I can't stand either of those clubs, but don't think a single non-United fan ever wants your lot to win a fucking coin toss, nevermind anything else.

Paul Scholes is a bigger c*nt than all twats that have gone through those two clubs combined.

Hopefully a Schalke gets 'hold of him next week and leaves the little ginger looking worse off than Mel Gibson's Jesus.

With the fact from Barca's first cross from the bye line they opened the scoring, is quite poor from a tactical point of view IMO. And that their 79 percent of possession led to only 3 goal scoring opportunities being created is also quite alarming, 2 of them being after Pepe was sent off. I really thought and still do Messi would have been a lot better used out wide, drifting inside than using him as a focal point through the middle, with Villa and Pedro out wide. Even more so when you consider that Barca's fullbacks weren't pushing forwards into Real Madrid's half and joining the attack for various reasons. That said Pepe deserved to be shown red and the way Mourinho reacted was quite pathetic. And I reckon United would have preferred to meet Real Madrid than Barca, so all in all I'm happy that Barca looks like they will be headed to the final and hopefully win it this year.

Barca can not be amazing all the time.. it is a sign of a great team which they are

simply the best

But they seem to try no matter the opposition, which isn't a bad thing per say but I just thought that they would have not tried to passed the ball through Madrid as much as they did after losing the Copa del Ray to them. It was only after Pepe was sent off that Alves really look to get into Madrid half off the pitch on a regular basis and him joining the Barca attack when they have the ball is what makes they way break down teams by playing through the middle of the pitch work so effective and why they can play attacking players who aren't natural wide men like Villa without playing too narrow - with out width etc etc. I reckon they would have scored had Pepe not got himself sent off but you can't say that was a given because apart from Xavi's attempt (with highlighted how important Inesta for them.), Barca weren't looking that good if you ask me but rather lacking creativity when in the final third and one dimensional IMO.

Mourinho is in general an utter pillock, but today during the match I saw him three times.  Once when the Barca staff were arguing to the forth official after Pedro fell to the ground clutching his face as if someone threw sulfuric acid at him.  The second was when he was having what looked like a talk with puyol (which seemed quite calm) and then the third time was when he was escorted out to the stands or pen or whatever it was.  I'd love to know what he said, because it didn't appear as if lashed out at all.  And to the people calling Mourinho a 'disgrace' to real madrid.  1. I think you need to look a little further up the food chain, and 2.Yes.  he essentially parked a bus.  Against the best team in the world, and arguably the best team ever.  Against a team that RM have lost 5-0 and 5-2 to recently too because they tried to attack them and 'olay the right way.   A 'disgrace' would have been if he kept trying to do it in a stubborn Hodgsonesque manner.   Real Madrid.  utter c*nts the lot of them

As for Barca,  the team praised for playing football 'the right way', shown themselves to be nothing but a barbie doll man utd.  Zonal marking between the ref and staff in the tunnel?  Zonal marking between the players and the ref on the field more like.  Absolutely pathetic play from Pedro and Busquets as well.  utter c*nts the lot of them

And Man Utd.There's your shopping list for next week, there's a list of letters in the alphabet.  Then there's the size of Santa's naughty list and then a list of numbers increasing to infinity.  Then after all that, there's a list of reasons to hate Man Utd.   utter utter c*nts.

C'mon Uefa.  Do the decent thing and hand the trophy to Schalke.

'apart from xavi's effort', oh and villa's shot just wide and messi's shot that was blocked. so three good efforts before the two goals they did get, all against a team that 'parked the bus' at home, which got even deeper when they went to ten men. madrid at times last night didnt want to venture beyond the half way line, even show pony ronaldo was getting frustrated at the lack of pressure further up the field.

Anyone else think that the inevitable Mancs-Barca final coverage will include a cheesy VT comparing it to the Spanish Armada? Something about an irresistible Spanish fleet defeating wave after wave of opposition to finally reach English soil "It's closer than the Spanish got in the original Armada..." to, one more time, face the English in battle?

Anyone see this happening?

Why does a team with the two most expensive players of all time amongst their extremely expensively assembled squad need to park the bus against anyone?
