Got to say I'm really surprised he's dropped Carra, shows some balls and faith in our younger players. I think I'm right in saying Coates has experience at International level against the likes of Tevez? Hope he really puts in a performance today and doesn't get his confidence badly dented.
He's a young lad and needs the crowd behind him regardless, same goes for Sterling, great talent and think they both have the nerve and maturity to cope with this game.
Take any win, anyway it comes.

Even if it goes tits up, Rodgers is making the right decisions, they're risks, but we havnt taken risks as a club in to long. Sterling and Coates starting is the right thing, and if they have shockers, fair enough, but at least hes going for it and trusting his judgement.
If we lose, all hell will break lose on here after the game.

Please post that post again, because youre  utterly right whatever the result.

Was thinking similarly.  Just wasn't sure if De Jong was playing.  No doubt he'll have a swing or two.  Just hope the kid has it in him to leave him in his wake as he runs into the sunset with the ball glued to his feet.

Going off their lineup, it's clear they've gone for their physical players in an attempt to muscle us out of the game.

If Enrique is fit enough for the bench he should start. Johnson on the left is a waste.

Kelly looks clumsier on the ball than he actually is.  Probably because he's bloody huge for a fullback.

Is right.

I'm afraid its starting to seem as though Kelly is going to be branded the next deadwood this season ... already the odd he's not an attacking fullback ... doesn't fit the system ... heavy touch and blah. He's 22 and has more than 50 appearances for us. Has anybody ever seen anyone get the better of this lad down the wing? He gets assists and the odd goal and is a fantastic defender. Good enough for me.

I agree with you.

They are good young players that will lead this club forward. They need the pitch time now.

Even if the result is unfavourable, we are developing their skill set and moving the club in the right direction.

Think the bench is alright as well.  I would love to see Suso force his way into the picture sooner rather than later but I don't think that is a bad bench at all.  In any case, I think that is the best bench we could have put out tonight.

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

Coates and Sterling start.

Adam and Spearing not even subs.

That's a 4 huge steps forward.

Agreed. Even if we lose today we've taken a huge step forward....Good luck to them both

He can't play against sheikh's club during ramadan.

Can't wait for this, come on Redmen!
But Ramadan has been over since last Saturday. Surprised by his omission but happy with the lineup and especially Rodgers' risky choices which is the right thing in my opinion.

what if he's only fit enough to play 20-30 minutes?

Since when are the options 90 minutes or sub?  Nice binary thinking

I don't like facing the 3-5-2 formation because it seems to be packed everywhere, indeed in the dangerous areas and in the areas where our strength lies (the core).
3 midfielders, 3 central defenders and 2 strikers. That basically leaves no man unmarked in our central positions and provided the two wide midfielders have enough energy in them to cover the yards, it'll be hard for us to find any space. Hate playing this formation.

They are coming to grind out a result from the looks of things rather than play us off the park.  I think Mancini actually rates our squad more than I do.

I'm not so sure about Sterling starting to be completely honest. I think he'd be far more effective as a sub and I'm unsure whether or not he will fulfill his defensive duties.

Hopefully he does very well though, he has my full backing and I've always been impressed by him.

Sterling running at zabaletta is going to be perfect. It will make the crowd right up for it too. Come on red men! really positive about this.

Zabaletta is a good pro, and perhaps City's best fullback. I hope Sterling has the sense to mix up how he attacks him.
