My plea to the owners. Please ignore the minority of fans who are showering a decent man with verbal abuse at every opportunity and give him your full backing. Give the guy a chance, some of you on here make me ashamed to be a Scouser.

Would be admirable if your post history was not littered with calls for the previous manager to go.  Hypocritical?

Granted some of the personal abuse is OTT but plenty of fans have given balanced assesments of why the guy is not up to the job. He's had his chance and we are now at the point where giving him more time could cost us very dearly and most people now realise that it is never going to get any better with Roy at the helm.

MY plea to the owners. Please ignore the minority of fans who are unable to recognise a turd when they see one. Roy Hodgson doesn't *understand* football; he blindly, unchangingly sets his team up to a formula which he inherited from a mate 35 years ago. This is not conjecture, aside from the fact that it should be obvious to anybody who has the misfortune to watch his teams play, he happily tells that to anybody who will listen!

To be fair, I think this is harsh - in that I believe he does understand a certain brand of football, that of teams that often face fighting for relegation or aspire to a mid-table position as a measure of success. He entire philosophy is rooted in this level of aspiration, ie first try not to lose, a draw away is a great result. It's a reasonable philosophy and he seems to be adequate at implementing it elsewhere.

He is, however, entirely out of his depth at an aspirational club. Under increasing pressure, he will always revert to form because that's where his comfort zone is - witness the apparently insane reversion to a failed formation against Wolves. Hodgson should have been self-aware enough to have recognised his limitations and refused to take the Liverpool job - imagine how feted he would still be had he stayed at Fulham having turned us down. Instead, he looks on the edge of a nervous breakdown as his entire self-image and confidence has been shattered. Life teaches us cruel lessons, even in our sixties.

What really concerns me now is that he does not seem to consider resigning. Anyone can make a mistake (as others have noted, there can't be many people in the game of football that would have refused the LFC job) but someone as experienced as Hodgson, and at his age, ought to have the sense God gave him and recognise it's time. (I doubt if compensation is the reason to stay put - he could easily help solve FSG's dilemma by offering resignation on the basis of a package and they'd be happy to pay - since they will have to pay one way or another).

I'm not defending his woeful professional choices, and his apparent inability to follow the ancient advice "'tis better to keep quiet and be thought a fool, than to speak and thus confirm it", but I am trying to understand the human being suffering in such a bleak place as he appears to be.

Please, let's not give him two or three more games. Lets not give him any more games.

That I can't disagree with. I just wish he leaves by his own hand, today, to preserve his dignity and mental well-being - and our own.

You really have some nerve. I looked at your post history and some of the stuff you posted about the previous manager is poisonous. You could certainly give lessons in abusing a decent man...

I've said it before, Rafa is a fecking liability with his failure to keep his gob shut in public. Whatever any of us might think of Rick Parry he did it the traditional Liverpool way without airing his views in public and for that I thank him....    ...I would shed no tears if Rafa were to leave tomorrow.

Delightful...

I have another plea to the owners if you're reading this.

Bring Roy Evans home and find a genuine role for him.

That man was a terrific servant for the club for virtually his whole adult life. He has a wealth of footballing knowledge, literally a lifetime's worth. He could still contribute an enormous amount, he's massively under-appreciated and he's been allowed to walk alone for far too long.

Will this letter will hasten the departure of Hodgson, his out dated football and his over active gob from Anfield?

If so  I will sign it on behalf of Reds made old and grumpy before their time by this mediocre man.

Long time reader of this board and I fully agree with a fair few of the views expressed on this forum.

Completely baffled as to how this bloke is (still) in charge of Liverpool Football Club. Want him gone as soon as. Good enough a reason to sign up, if any.

I agree with everything. At first I was doubtful on signing Mr. Hodgson as manager, but as a loyal Liverpool supporter I thought we'd give him a chance, perhaps Mr. Hodgson could do wonders although he might not be the best choice for the job? But we don't live in a dream world, Mr. Hodgson has done no wonders, our beloved club is still suffering. I have nothing against Mr. Hodgson as a person, but I don't believe he's the man to make things right in Liverpool FC. Signing Mr. Hodgson was a short-term solution, and not a long-term one, which we all want.

Signed.

Dear Mr Henry

I thought you were a businessman but it appears that you know nothing about football. The value of your investment is getting lower by the minute and unless you take some action very soon you will probably end up a loser as your predecessors. The current manager is crap- just look at his record and even if you give him 5 years and 200mill to spend, Liverpool will not progress as a club. The guy should be retired, drawing his pension and looking after his grandchildren. Do him a favour and sack him because every game I see, the bloke looks closer to a heart-attack. The supporters of this great club deserve better and considering you got a bargain when you bought this club, its high time this club was returned to its glory days.

No need for melodramatics. This isn't about the value of the club and please don't drag Hicks and Gillett back into it. Hodgson needs to go because of what he is doing on the pitch. FSV are in this for the long run and any minor impact on the paper value of the club won't affect that.
