Anyone know if I can run a cable from the virgin cable box on the wall into a sky box to get tv signal?

Trying to get tv in the bedroom where cable comes in for my fibre optic. There's a box on the wall which says tv. It's impossible to get signal from the dish or sky box unless I run cables from front to back which the missus doesn't want.

Get a cheap cable box. Amiko Mini HD is about £50

Anyone got the 'Amiko Mini Combo'?

Dodgy box that uses the Wifi and Sky aerial. Seems a good setup so far. All the channels, sports etc.

Not much HD though, which is the only problem.

The combo is sat & cable isnt it? If so you could get a cable sub. They're more expensive and you get the HD channels if HD is a must but no setanta.
Sat subs are cheaper, have setanta but dont have the HD. Loads of boxes come with wifi but general consensus is if possible, always go with a wired connection.

I still haven't got a subscription for my box (virgin doesn't run out until 23rd). Look at the forums, some servers offer European channels on top of Sky channels.

1. Do these packages include 3pm kick offs?
2. Would they work OK in UK?

Fuck it, just got a subscription.

I'm looking to sort out all the channels into a usable order. Delete the duplicates etc. A few here have mentioned autobuquets.

Where do I get this from?

Using google, a lot of sites seem to mention installing a back up image or something? Anyone any ideas?

Managed to find autobouquets. Installed it, and every time I go to open it, the box crashes and restarts??

Got autobouquets sorted. All channels now in the order they are on on Sky. Just need to get an EPG sorted, and get all the blank channel numbers deleted.

Right,

Theres so much info in this thread that its difficult to trawl through and extract what I'm after!

Looking for a box that will provide 3pm kick offs and also normal sky sports channels. From what little info i've gathered some of these boxes seem to run off the internet connection, in which case I will be running a 10M ethernet from the router, upstairs. Can someone suggest a box that suits my needs and a ball park figure of how much one should cost + any subscription fees I may need to take out. Also if 10M ethernet connection will suffice?

Thanks

Mag 250 box for about £60, subs are around £20 a month for all sports channels inc 3pms and 10mb is plenty fast enough.

Or you can just get an android box or amazon fire tv. Stick XBMC/Kodi on it and get Sky sports streams and all 3pm kick offs for no sub fee

I get a better picture from NBC Sports Live Extra (HD) than I do from my dodgy Sky subscription (mostly SD now).

Will it still be around for free next season though? Who can say for sure.

I recommend a fire TV for ease of use but it is on the pricy side (£79). Once you have that there's a thread here called XBMC with all the advice on how to set it up but you can always PM me as well mate.

Isn't mag iptv so technically you're streaming right?

Just my own opinion but £20 a month is steep for something you can technically get for free right now. You even get people selling yearly accounts for bein sports for £30ish and they show all PL and CL games I believe

Blocked what mate?

Virgin media are notorious for blocking stuff. I'd recommend using a DNS service to bypass all Virgin media blocking attempts

I've been looking at getting an android box.   The cost of sky and bt is just getting too much.   Will have to wait a few months as being rural our broadband is on the list to be upgraded.

Only one thing,   I do not know where to start.   Want it for sports and the series we watch.

Same here NBC Sports Extra is better quality, other than BT which is still HD.

You're right, it is streaming but from a card share. Its not just footy either, Ive got 92 sports channels on the Mag with an epg so, although you can probably get a lot of the stuff for free if you look hard enough, its much easier this way for someone as lazy as me. I think a fiver a week is ok for all the sport you can handle.

I was in the same boat but found a free app where all the best apps are installed on your XBMC. Then you just have to search for the tv shows or football streams in the apps. Just type "fusion xbmc" in google and some videos should pop up showing you step by step what to do.

If you're connection is really that slow (dial up speed ), i wouldnt bother with an xbmc box
i'd buy a cheap satellite box and get a sub. For the sat subs, connection speed is largely irrelevant as long as you have a connection

How do I remove channels that have nothing on them?

I have a sub for Sky channles. All sorted as per the Sky channel line up. Movies on 301, 302 etc, sports on 401, 402 and so on. But for the numebrs where Sky don't have a channel, these still show on my list. I want to remove them but keep the existing channels on the numbers they are on. Is this possible?

The way I thought it works just moves every channel up a number. For example, if I remove channel 399, every channel after that will move up one, so instead of Sky Sports 1 being on 401, it'll move up to 400, and every other channel after channel 401 will move up one aswell.

Doing my tits in, if I'm just going through channels one by one, and I flick on to one of these unused channel numbers, it just puts me right back to number 1, which obviously has nothing on it either as Sky starts at 101

What box is it? If its an enigma 2 just put autobouquets plugin on it and it will sort your channels out.

Cloud ibox 2 plus.

I used the autobouquets to sort out the channels, but it has listed them in numbers 1-1000. I just want rid of all the numbers that don't have a channel on them without having to have what should be on channel 401 on channel 150
