All keepers make mistakes, the great ones make the fewest. Denying he does however does the man no favours and as you could see by his face straight after he was the first to admit it.

Bad, bad, mistake to make...but what made it more galling was if Dawson had done his job properly two mins earlier it wouldn't have even happened...quite rightly Reina can be forgiven , don't feel the same about Dawson.

Not making excuses for the error, though I will always make excuses for our wonderful goalkeeper, but the ball was changed on three occasions in the first fifteen minutes, could that have had any effect on Aguero's goal?

Wondered about this myself. Tried to see if the ball had taken an unpredictable dip. Not sure though. WTFuck was going on with them anyway?

Don't blame our loss on him at all. Yes, the first goal was his fault. But he made a fantastic save a couple of minutes later and he is genuinely a world class goalkeeper. Just bought his autobiography and can't wait to read it.

Definitely did IMO, the 1st little swerve before it dipped didn't look normal to me.

Dunno mate it's grasping at straws , I watched it a couple of times, didn't see the ball dip anymore than usual. It's just a mistake by Reina with not getting his body in line. Still wouldn't trade him for anyone else.

The way I saw it on the replay, was that he'd lined his gloves up to make the save initially, then it took a little swerve to the right and then dipped after that under his body. Would've still expected him to adjust and get something in the way of it though, a mistake but definitely not a howler IMO.

He has the right to commit some mistakes now and then, but this "now and then" is becoming too often.

Waaaaaaay overprotected. I don't see him among the best keepers in the world since 2010, every mistake of his is justified here. Well guess what, one good save does NOT compensate a previous mistake.

But indeed he is far from being our biggest problem right now, especially considering the second choice...

Pepe is still young for a goalkeeper, been on the team for quite a long time now and is our third choice for captain. I would never have him leaving the club, but he is not bigger than Liverpool.

if you look when aguero has the shot he kicks the ground just before he kicks the ball, that causes the funny trajectory. with that and the wet surface easy to see why the mistake was made.

I didn't see Joe Hart struggling too much with the shape of the ball with the Downing/Dawson effort. He even got enough of the odd shaped ball to kill the ball with his arse! Simply the quality of the strike was the difference between those two efforts and Aguero knew that he had a chance to score, our lad didn't. Pepe knows he fucked up but he also knows that he fucked up at Fulham too. What's Dodi thinking?

Pepe is great, love him.

But, according to Opta, our team has made 8 defensive errors. 6 of these have led to goals. So, 1 in 3 goals conceded have been our own fault, our own error.

Unfortunately, every single one has been Pepe.

Last season, Pepe made 4 defensive errors. None lead to goals.

I can't recall the 6 to be fair, but I do remember a fair few. Pepe hasn't become a bad keeper over night, so I am not sure what is going on. Every keeper has a dodgey spell, it is how they come out of it is the real test. He will do, I have absolutely no doubts, but we need to ensure the coaches are doing everything they can to help him snap out of it. He has one of the best defences in the league (in terms of ability) in front of him, and unfortunately, Pepe has let himself down. He will know that as much as anyone, and I am very confident he will snap out of it.

Lets hope we have seen the last of the errors, because we all know Pepe is much better than that. We are all right behind you Pepe.

EDIT: Ignore this. It was just 4. The Opta chart didn't interpret it correctly, Pepe has made 5 errors, 4 have led to goals. Still a a slight concern, but others have been guilty too.

Top keeper having a bad run.

I can't think of 6 errors but...

Spurs 4th I think when he dropped it at Adebayor's feet.
Norwich - when he came and missed the cross. (Bit harsh and Carra involved too but still a mistake)
Fulham.
City's first.

I can't think of any more.

Absolutely the first part.

And as you point out, it was "just" 4. The opta stats chart I was looking at included "defensive errors" under the "Goal Keeper stats" for everyone, not just the goal keeper. When I looked at Pepe individually, he has "only" made 5 errors, 4 led to goals. Still a bit of a concern, but not just his "fault". Others have been guilty of errors too.

Love this lad, he is human, he will make mistakes. Show me a keeper who has not made any. The reason why Pepe is one of the best is becasue he limits his errors to a couple a season whilst every other time being up to his brilliant best. Yes, he has made a couple of errors recently, so what, it is a team game, and he is being let down at times by the teams failure to convert chances. For me,and it is just my view, he is the most important player at this club and i hope he is here for years to come.

Exactly this,
Half the people in this topic wouldn't of bothered had we come out of that game 3-1 winners,
We made plenty of chances to counter the era and the team never made up for it.
It's unfortunate that it happened, but this is football and this is why we love it, it's unpredictable
Pepe has atleast 10 more years at Liverpool for me if he wants to stay  :)

Made a couple of mistakes this season. Still wouldn't swap him for any other GK on the planet. His passion for the club puts plenty of so called fans to shame. Want to see Pepe here winning titles and European cups. Can already picture him trying to walk on his hands.  8)
