Say what you will about the events of the game, but Mourinho's comments after the game show just how much of a classless twat he is. He thinks so highly of himself that it's absolutely unimaginable that his tactics could possible ever fail. In his view, it's simply not possible to beat him on level terms, never mind that he was (reportedly) keeping the grass longer to slow down Barca's passing. Coming out after the game and stating in no uncertain terms that Barca was influencing the referees to get favorable decisions just shows he's bottom-feeding scum. If you beat his team, it couldn't possibly be because you outplayed his team or his team made a mistake, the only possible way to beat him is to pay off the officials.
It seems to me that the reason Mourinho's teams get players sent off against Barca is that he sets up his teams to defend and put in hard tackles all game- against a team with small, quick players like Barca that makes it almost certain that there's going to be at least one or two awful tackles in the match. Sure, Pepe's tackle was a debatable red in the modern game, as it could have just as well been a yellow. Still, it was a justified as a red- going in at full tilt, studs showing, well over the ball. As others have said, had it been on a standing leg, it could have easily been a double break. If you know you're playing a team who's going to make the most of rough challenges, why keep making them?
