Former Reserves coach and Head of Academy Coaching Rodolfo Borrell has changed positions in the City company from coaching NYCFC youth to joining Pep Guardiola's staff as assistant coach at Man City.

I have rto say I never knew anything about Howard Gayle, Liverpools first black player - but I have alot of respect for him turning down a MBE.

http://www.fourfourtwo.com/au/news/ex-liverpool-blackburn-player-gayle-declines-mbe?

Howard Gayle turned down an MBE because accepting the honour would have been a "betrayal" of those who suffered under British colonial rule.
Former Liverpool player Howard Gayle has explained his reasons for turning down a Member of the British Empire nomination.
Gayle, who became Liverpool's first black player in 1977, was put forward for the honour - commonly known as an MBE and awarded by the constitutional monarchy in the United Kingdom for outstanding achievements, public service and charitable work - on account of his involvement with the anti-racism football educational charity Show Racism the Red Card.
But the 58-year-old felt to accept the honour would be a "betrayal" of his ancestors in Africa who suffered under British colonial rule.
In a post on his Facebook page, Gayle said: "Most of you who are on my FB page are aware of the work that I do tackling racism and the work I do for Show Racism the Red Card.
"And for that work, yesterday I was nominated for a MBE. Unfortunately I had to decline the nomination for the reason that my ancestors would be turning in their graves after how Empire and Colonialism had enslaved them.
"This is a decision that I have had to make and there will be others who may feel different and would enjoy the attraction of being a Member of the British Empire and [having] those three letters after their name.
"But I feel that it would be a betrayal to all of the Africans who have lost their lives or who have suffered as a result of Empire."

He deserves a lot of credit for sticking by his principles. Personally have always bawked at the idea of an honours system, particularly one as anachronistic and laden with so much dark history as the British one. When you consider too the history of LFC and the great socialist figures like Shankly, you can see why Gayle's decision would have so much resonance with the fans of the club. He might have been a bitpart player for Liverpool, but his actions, from a racial and social perspective, speak volumes and reflect well on him and his association with the club, as well as the other clubs he represented thereafter.
Beatings will continue until morale improves...

Paul Anderson has left Bradford City "by mutual consent" and joined fellow L1 side Northampton Town on a 1 year contract.  All in the same transfer deadline day apparently.

Balotelli scored twice again in Nice 4-0 win against Monaco, send ing Nice top of Ligue 1

I like to think that this is a more focused Mario as he has now equalled his entire Liverpool total in just 3 games for Nice. Plus there is no funny hairstyle.

It's looking up for him and I am pleased.

More like he's found his level, as the general quality of the French league is pretty poor.

Then again, if the sell on clause is true, lets hope he bangs them in and convinces some club to spend silly money on him.

Aquilani and Pescara, Serie A, have mutually agreed that he will be allowed to leave in the January window.

“The Biancazzurri directors, after listening to the will of the boy and his agent, and backed by the coach, have come to a mutual agreement that he won’t go to Palermo with the subsequent evaluation of a separation in the next market session.”

Interview with Ngoo from the Echo about his struggles to revive his career, but he sounds like a determined kid:

http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/former-liverpool-youngster-who-came-12500210

Spoiler
Read the article on the Echo's website.  It's a good read.  The former Liverpool youngster who came back from the brink
Meet the one-time Anfield striker resurrecting his career at Oldham Athletic

Michael Ngoo was signed by Liverpool from Southend United at 16 years of age as a promising young striker.

The fee of £250,000 swapped hands for Ngoo's services back in 2009 and he quickly set to work.

During the 2010-11 season he finished top scorer for the under-18s, netting 15 times in 21 games. Hype was suitably increased when he followed up the next season as the reserve team's top finisher.

Brendan Rodgers sent Ngoo out on loan to Scottish club Hearts, Yeovil Town and Walsall.

After four goals at Hearts, his spells away from Merseyside became less fruitful as the years wore on - producing only one goal.

Liverpool eventually released him having never made a senior appearance at Anfield, and he was picked up by Kilmarnock.

In only his fifth Scottish Premier League game, the then Celtic centre-half Virgil van Dijk's challenge inflicted a horrendous injury - leaving the striker sidelined for the rest of his spell at the Scottish club.

"It was very bad injury; some bones were out of place and needed to be screwed back in," he said.

“It wasn’t something that would be fixed over a few months, it was a long healing process, so I had to have two operations on the ankle.

"Mentally it’s frustrating, as one minute you’re at Liverpool and training with massive players and then you’re injured, so it’s like 'wow, where do I go from here?'."

He managed to recover for one last appearance for Killie, but his career seemed virtually, and sadly, over.

After two years fraught with surgery and rehabilitation, he joined non league side Bromley - training only three days a week.

He made one appearance off the bench back in November and quickly slid off the radar again.

But the former Red has made a sensational return to league football. League One side Oldham Athletic snapped up Ngoo's services after a hat-trick and assist in a trial game against Bury.

“Talent speaks for itself but I have hunger and the drive for success," said Ngoo. "If I woke up every morning and thought it was over for me, then it would be the end. A lot of people fade away into the background and just accept it’s not happening and give up football and find a different profession.

"I came up to Oldham, trained for a couple of days, played in a reserve match against Bury, I managed to notch a hat-trick, assist one and we beat them 5-3.

"That did me a whole world of good for my confidence, it helped me mentally, too, proving that I could do whatever I put my mind to I could achieve.”"That did me a whole world of good for my confidence, it helped me mentally, too, proving that I could do whatever I put my mind to I could achieve.”

He made his debut in a 1-0 loss to Shrewsbury but, with all due respect to the Shrews, Ngoo would have been delighted to get an hour under his belt.

After being told he may never play football again, a loss on debut is just a small price to pay for the chance to take the field.
