I don't have a link but Rafa has said that he offered Aurelio a contract but he rejected it apparently because Rafa wanted to offer a pay as you play deal rather than a "normal" contract.

Rude to turn down a pay as you play deal to be honest, esp as he has been injured for the past 345 years, the fella owes us to be fair.

I have absolutely no problem with him leaving.  As said, he's a great player when fit, but he hardly ever is.  He can't be relied on and his wages could be used to accommodate a left-back who is going to offer more.  A pay as you play deal would of been ideal, but the state we're in anything else would of been a risk.

If this is true, I wish him well, he always seemed like a decent bloke and it's not like he wanted to be out injured.  It's important we bring a player to replace him though, one of the reasons Insua had a dip in form was because he's still a player learning his trade and was having to play every game.

Indeed

Is there a source? We all know his contract runs out this summer and there's no news of a new one being signed, so I'm guessing that means he's on his bike.

Him leaving is good as it means we have to get another left back in and hopefully someone to match Johnson, I really want to get Kolarov but this isn't footy manager so...

When he was fit and on form he was actually one of my favorite players. Shame really, will be sad to see him go. If he wasn't so bloody injury prone he'd of been rightly heralded as one of the best in the world in his position

At the end of the day, he has only a couple of years left to earn some money as a footballer, so I can understand why he wants a regular pay-cheque. And besides, I don't really see the benefit of a pay as you play deal. Yes, we wouldn't have to pay as much when he's not fit, but it would still not give us more options at left back. I'd rather we get a player who can stay fit for longer periods and have him fight for the spot with Insua than having 3 left-backs with two sitting on their arses all the time (when everyone is fit).
