I'm enjoying it.

I like, the blonde lass with the dragon fetish, the little dude, the great use of the word "Bastard", the red head hooker, Arya, Fat Sam, the bird who used to be in Hollyoaks, the decapitations and guessing when Sean Bean bites the bullet as he dies in everything.

I don't care for the incest .... that's about the only negative  :D

I like the sound of this. The way they have planned the last two seasons makes me hopeful that it's been well thought out and won't be rushed.

So, predictions. Was thinking of keeping it pretty simple and letting everyone choose whoever they want, though I guess we could do a draft or something.

- Everyone gets to choose 5 characters for the whole season
- A point is awarded for each correct death predicted
- You can nominate one character as captain and receive double points if they die
- Winner is whoever has the most points at the end

If we have enough people keen I'll start a separate thread somewhere else so we don't clog this one up.

I like your idea mate and I'm in but am I wrong in thinking it would be easy to pick only 5 people who will die this season? I feel like that could be too easy. Maybe I'm wrong!

Maybe 3 instead of 5? And yeah, a draft would definitely make it a lot more challenging too. Only concern there is I'm probably too slack to properly organise that myself. I'll definitely take part if someone else is willing though? Don't necessarily need that many people to play.

Happy to be proven wrong. I loved Start Strek TNG despite despising space operas in general, can't stand Star Wars and the like. Truly great shows can raise themselves above the settings if the stories and characters are good enough. Likewise, I put off Deadwood  for so long because it was a Western.

Was thinking: will the Jon's parentage leak be important because it will make a potential marriage between him and Dany incestuous? Or do the Targs not care about that anyway? Or is it important so that he can be a dragon rider?

So after a huge binge watch I've finally caught up ready for the new season.

Considering I was hugely unsure I could ever get into it, I finally managed to get through the first episode after several failed attempts over the years and was addicted from there. The first half of the season 1 was a bit confusing given the amount of characters introduced but once it settles down and I got familiar with the main players I really liked it. Great to see a series with some proper northern accents in too. Could almost be set in Leeds  :D

I found the first four seasons brilliant.

Spoiler
I hated the fifth. I hated the High Sparrow character and all his boring speeches, infact the whole story arc was shite. I hated the Ramsey Bolton character who was evil for evils sake with non of the entertainment that Joffre provided. Maybe it was the actors but just couldn't stand his presence on screen. The writers seemed to want to shock at every given opportunity. Unfortunately, when you expect the worst outcome for a character in every scene it becomes easy to predict and infact less shocking. The rape of Sansa was unnecessary, the girl just seams to be used at this point as some sort of dummy to be beaten, time and time again .... and then there was the incident with the little girl. Enough almost to make me jack the whole thing in. Just no. If I want to watch sick shit I'll watch Serbian film.... wayyy over the top for GOT. Glad I kept with it though as season six really got back on track. The cleaning of the house of all the shite characters from the previous season was great.
I would class Tyrion as a truly great character in the list of TV I've seen in my life, closely followed by Jaime.

He played Ramsey perfectly, hatred and repulsion is exactly what we were supposed to feel everytime he hit our screens.

We've re-watched all the seasons this past few weeks and just have to finish 6 again before Sunday.

That gif is brilliant.

He is about to grace our screens again playing a supervillain in Inhumans.

Rewatching the whole lot and I'm currently on S4.

I think Ramsay was great to begin with. His introduction first as a friend and then as a foe to Theon was done brilliantly. In general, the way he manipulates him is smartly done. He wasn't just torturing Theon for the sick pleasure, he was creating a useful ally.

That said, I know when I move onto S5 I'll gradually grow more tired of him. As you say, his character just becomes evil for evil's sake. Every scene plays out the same and it's as if it's all being done for shock value.

His character does however go out on a high note. He plans the battle almost perfectly but ultimately his own conniving and perversions become his downfall. It was a very fitting way to die, it's just unfortunate that he was given a lot of pointless scenes in the preceding episodes.

I also agree with you on the High Sparrow storyline. I think it had a ton of potential, but was just executed poorly. It seemed rushed in places. That being said, it's a very necessary storyline to set in motion possibly the best episode of the lot.

Best character by far is Robson or Jerome. I really should learn his name. Masterful delivery of the word 'twat' time and again.

The swearing and delivery of said swearing was a series highlight for me.

You just don't get delivery of "c**t, twat or my favourite .... Bastard" with the same ooomph as when it's said with a northern twang.

The dude your thinking of is  Bronn ...... Bastard

Bronn is great but the best delivery when it comes to swearing goes to The Hound.
