The Samsung Galaxy S2 thread
« on: May 19, 2011, 05:37:12 pm »
Hi all, just thought that this phone deserves a thread of its own. Searched and found none, so here goes.

It has to be the best smart-phone on the planet right now, in terms of everything that they have put in it. It works seamlessly as well, or so I have heard from friends. I am going to buy this one.

What are the reviews from those who have bought it yet?

Key Features of Samsung Galaxy S2
 Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS
8 MP Camera With Full HD Recording(1080p)
 4.3 Inch Super AMOLED Screen
 1.2 GHz Dual Core Processor

Does it need it's own thread? There's already some android threads about.
Gotta admit tho it's a good looking phone

Trust me, with the numbers being projected for this one, this is going to dent every other phone's sales.
Also, think this is a real beast and needs it's own thread.

This might actually be what killed the iphone  :D

Personally I think its better to have threads for specific operating systems rather than phones. Lets face it, it wont be long till there is something better out that this, and then any decent stuff in the thread will be lost.

better to have a thread where you can talk about android and the apps etc as at the end of the day thats what the threads end up being about anyway

Very much doubt it, the Sensation has already overtaken sales for this

This phone is more than just Android, so thought it would be best to have it's own thread.

I think the Sensation is in for a rude awakening. Worldwide already 3million pre-orders for th galaxy s2. Wait till it comes with NFC in UK, and we might see a clear winner. Check out some reviews for performance and you will see why I am going on about it.

Im thinking of getting one but my one issue is its ability to sync music etc to it.

Is there a way for it to work with iTunes.

Why would you want to sync it with iTunes?
Thats a plus... that you don't have to use iTunes.

Had it about 2 weeks now and love it. Best phone I've had by far.

It replaced my iPhone 3g which had got awfully slow and shit. I considered the HTC sensation, and after much deliberation went for the Samsung on the basis of the Super AMOLED screen and the extra RAM.

Lots of HTC fans on here I know, but it seems that everyone I know with one has needed to send it off for repair at some point. Certainly in the HTC desire thread there has been a few who have had to send it off several times. Thinking back to when I worked for o2 it was always the same when they used to make the o2 XDA's too. Now I've said that I bet my Samsung goes up the swanny at some point now!

Hope the good reviews for the samsung s2 keep going for at least another week at least, got my free upgrade coming from o2 this week, hope to be getting about £450 for it before the bad reviews start ;D

Don't think we will get too many bad ones, as people have already tried most of what they can to check how the phone holds up.
My problem with it will be durability, how will such a high powered phone hold up after say one year.

If the iPhone 5 doesn't have a bigger screen and a couple of decent upgrades then I will get this later this year.

A mate of mine got it a couple of days ago and it's amazing.

Interesting about the Desire... I know at least 6-7 people with one and none of us have had to send it to get repaired.

I think my next phone may be another HTC or this one, but by the time I'm up for renewal there'll probably be a better phone than this and the Sensation already out.

That's interesting. I guess its one of those things, nobody mentions that it's working ok, only when it goes wrong so maybe it seems like a problem when it's not? It just seemed to me like a lot of people have had to send it off.

Still, hopefully the Samsung will be ok :D

Be interesting to know what you prefer about iOS?

I came from an iPhone to a Galaxy S2 and I've been really impressed by android. For me, the gap between the two has well and truely been closed. Just my opinion obviously!

Is there likely to be a significant difference in battery life between the Sensation and the S II?

should be as S2 has a larger battery capacity but as almost all androids, as you start using different apps, the phone turns into a battery-holic.

As per its specs i feel its much better than its predecessor galaxy s. The galaxy s was also good  :thumbup ... but this new galaxy s2 is way better :champ . Dual core and 1080p video, front facing camera, and gingerbread. They fixed everything that was lacking with the original s and most important the display screen is enlarged than previous galaxy s with Super AMOLED Plus technology. :)

Super AMOLED Plus is said to deliver a brighter, more vibrant image so this will make compulsory for ma brother to buy samsung galaxy s2 accessories like screen protector to fit its screen coz previously he used galaxy s and he wished he could utilize dos accessories for this one. Bad luck bro.. :P
