You're right it's 2&5 that have gone, along with others,on the UK transponders. Still get some on the Irish though.

I have a vu+ zero satellite receiver running with a line at the moment but as it looks like that's coming to an end I'm looking at other options, can i run iptv on my vu+ zero or would i need to buy a new box?

don't think so m8
I've got flawless iptv on an vu ultimo which I think is older and it runs pretty well
the iptv is really good, lot better quality than UK sat cs (picture wise)
some of the streams are closer to a VM CS

So the end is near. Fair enough. I've had a good run with mine. £120 on 2 boxes and maybe £80 subs for about 3 years worth of TV. Had a 'return to SKY' offer for half price for 12 months. Might go back for the sport. Only get 6Mb/s so IPTV is a non starter.

If you can get Virgin into the house it may be worth considering that and a H2H box? (and would likely boost your internet speed too)

I've just gone to IPTV through a zGemma sat box (via a testline for now) - a bit of getting used too - some channels have no sound or buffer a lot - but there are a few copies of some of the more popular channels so should be ok for sports and films etc - and especially the footy :)

Been told that the zGemmas aren't great for IPTV - may go for one of those Mag254 boxes - around £60?

Anyone know any better/cheaper boxes - or other alternatives?

Mag boxes are dedicated iptv devices, work well and are easy to set up. I've also got it working fine on a Linux media centre pc and android phone so don't use the Mag so much now. I don't use enigma boxes but believe it works fine on the VU+. Just make sure you get a decent sub as the reseller cowboys are starting to jump on the iptv gravy train now.

I have got Bulky IPTV working on a vu duo2. The channels that have gone missing I have replaced with IPTV ones. Missus like it better than using the android box.

I might have put some vague instructions up a while back when I set flawless up on my Duo2. It was a bit clunky but it worked.

I know, I'm the exact same. Only got it about a year ago.

Something else will come along though.

got mine in january. I should have got it the january before.

if i got movies, sky sports, bt, eir sport and god knows what else during that time it would have been about 100 a month. i paid 170 for the box. compared to my old tv package i have probably saved about 140. so for 30 quid it was worth it. i probably saved more than that

something will come along or probably already has with iptv. these type of boxes are going in some shape or form for over 10 years.

Best bet atm for anybody with virgin broadband would be a cable box + sub.
I'd swerve iptv atm until the dust settles because a shit-load of the providers rely on sat cardsharing to provide their channels.

That's true but I've had iptv for years and the good ones have mainly local cards. Just beware of the ones who've suddenly popped up this last couple of months offering cheapo deals.

I am going to wait til August then make my mind up about IPTV unless the whole box becomes obsolete

I could pay for IPTV now but knowing my luck in August we will be having the same talk "anyone notice this is gone this morning"

Get a motorised dish, there is still plenty all over Europe that show the same stuff as Sky.

Sorry I'm a newbie to this and have been using Zgemma Star box with a Sly satellite sub. From looking at TechKings, to use cable would I need Virgin Media broadband? Would it be easy to move across from a satellite setup to cable?

Just wondering what's the best way to go forward now that Sky are removing the channels for satellite.  :-[

As long as you have virgin broadband its just a case of buying a box with a cable tuner, a cable sub and a splitter.

Am I right in thinking you can get the sports channels in HD with cable?

Yes and so long as you have a VM feed into the house you may not even need BB with virgin

Anybody using Flawless iptv? I got an m3u list off them and spent some time copying/pasting the links into my sat muxes to replace the missing channels. It's working great, full EPG etc, but does anyone know if you get the same login credentials when you extend the sub? I can't be doing with copying all that in again!

As a Cable user I would say if you're switching over from sat then go the IPTV route as the cable route will end soon. The IPTV stuff is getting better and better and some are evening stream at 1080p 60fps which is basically like watching normal sky sports hd. It will only get better. Get a powerful box and you should future proof yourself for whatever comes out.

I've managed to add the Flawless channels to my Vu+ box but the sound and sometimes the picture keeps freezing (sometimes pic freezes and sound continues). If I use the App on my samsung TV it works much better. What's the best box for IPTV?
