Would be happy with a similar team to the Tottenham. Hoping there is starts for Ejaria & Origi.

play nobody carrying a knock and we should be fine

Think the system wins us this game, whoever steps in knows what they have to do. Some goals and confidence would be great, so would a run out for lads like Woodburn

As a rugby league fan too, there's nothing wrong with Wakefield that knocking down Belle Vue would sort out.

Regarding football, it will be interesting to see how we approach this game with injuries to key players starting to take hold.  Do we change most of the first eleven - or say get on with it and hope for the best.  Probably somewhere in between.

Cheers
Jon

Expect us to play with a lot of bench players here. So starts for Mignolet, Moreno, Klavan, Lucas, Grujic and Origi, possibly Sturridge.

I'd go for something like this:

Mignolet

Alexander-Arnold
Lucas
Klavan
Moreno

Stewart
Milner
Grujic

Ejaria
Ojo
Origi

Jurgen Klopp: "It is about having a line-up which can stand the intensity of the game because Leeds are in a really good moment. They are a football-playing side and they will force us into a lot of things so we need to work hard in these games. The players need to be fit for this. We don't want to rest somebody who doesn't need a rest. It is possible we will make a few changes; it is possible we will play nearly the same team."

I wouldn't expect wholesale changes from that.

Feels like a shot in the dark but I'm going to guess: Mig; TAA, Lovren, Matip, Moreno; Henderson, Stewart, Ejaria; Mane, Origi, Woodburn with maybe one of Ejaria/Woodburn being replaced with one of Can/Wijnaldum.

It's such a shame that Ojo is out at the moment. He would have been in line to feature in this game, giving himself a chance of being involved in the coming weeks with the Coutinho injury (if confirmed long term) and Mane going to the ACON. He could of course still feature, but games like this would have been a perfect route into the side.

I really hope we are in a position to give Woodburn another run out too.

Mignolet - TAA - Lucas - Matip - Moreno - Can - Stewart - Wjinaldum/Grujic - Ejaria - Mane - Origi.

The lack of another winger in the squad may prove regretful at this time. Not in terms of results, but maybe having to overuse some players like Mane or Firmino.

I just checked when Smith (effectively their Gerrard) moved from the dirty leeds to the filthy mancs, it was 04. That was the last time I noticed anything to do with leeds. Good thing about leeds fans? Their Roman salute, fist under rib cage as a greeting to each other. Bad things about leeds fans?. Everything else.

Excellent OP.

I like this competition, and hopefully this is the last round I'll have to miss. Have to admit I feel a bit of nostalgia for Leeds--probably misplaced, because I'm pretty sure they were a wretched team back in the day. We should see them off no problem.

Are we playing the kids? Have we been playing them so far? I have a class at the same time as these cup games have been scheduled, so I've missed them all.

Come on Redmen!!
Agree that the Spurs line up will be the basis of this team excepting for injured players. Woodburn on the bench again I would guess along with starters from Saturday.
Only other thing to like about Leeds is they hate Mancs also !! Think this could be the first bit of Klopp silverware so a win required.

With the current injury problems I think we have to play our second string XI with a few first-teamers, I stil ltrust that to be good enough though. Lots of players with a point to prove.

Assume it's far too soon for Gomez sadly and would have loved to see Danny Ings out there, still gutted about him.

team i'd go with..........

..........................Mignolet...........................

Clyne.........Lucas..............Klavan........Moreno

..........................Stewart..............................

.............Henderson...........Wijnaldum............

...Mane..................Origi.........................Milner

Not as many young players as most others but this is the quarter finals of a cup so I think we should go as strong as possible without risking anyone.
But Henderson could play every few days if he had to, the same with Milner and I like Milner further forward, Wijnadlum needs the game
time and I think if Mane is 100% he should start since he is the type of player that will really scare a team like Leeds.

I don't think this is going to be as easy as some think it will be - particularly when the likes of Coutinho, Firmino, Lallana and Sturridge won't even be options off the bench should we need them. Leeds are going to go full strength here as well, so we're going to have to put in a good performance to beat them. Hopefully they'll come to play football though.

Surely Origi starts. Moreno and Tent AA at full back.  Klavan and Lucas.  Not sure about midfield, wouldn't be one of our current regular three to play but we have plenty of young options there too.

It's up top we need to be careful.  Only play Sturridge if he's ok. Ideally rest Firmino and Mané but I think at least one will start with the other on the bench.

Was bored at work so picked the team for tomorrow and came up with the same defence as you. Think Stewart will start and then it's one of four for the other two midfield spots. Would have loved to see Sturridge play given his lack of game time in the league but hopefully he'll be fit for Saturday. Origi though, lovely finish on Saturday, good for him to get off the mark and he'll be champing at the bit now to stake a claim for the first team with Coutinho out. Looking forward to tomorrow, should be good.

Let's take it seriously and get the job done, love having a semi to look forward to in the New Year.

Why wouldn't they go full strength? Their chance of winning any type of silverware this season might be slim, but this competition is as close as they're going to get. It's a quarter final after all.

Because Ejaria slipped forward and we bought Grujic. We almost loaned him to Wigan in the summer but it fell through because they wouldn't accept our minimum playing time clause. Hopefully he'll get a decent loan in January.

Get the feeling Klopp gave Woodburn a few minutes at the end on Saturday so he could get his nerves out of the way before his full start at Anfield.

We shall see. Might be totally wrong.
