Have completely abandoned my tasks in work for the next 100 minutes. I'm sure the boss will understand; if not then you'll see me doing more colour commentary in future.

We're under way at Estadio Santa Maria. As with so may of the teams we've faced this season, Southampton have started in sprightly fashion.

2' - Possession switching between the teams in the first two minutes. Southampton are determined to play football. High hoist into the box is deflected away for a corner, Matip gets well up and clear comfortably. Second ball comes in but the flag has been raised.

It strikes me as truly strange that - as a fan - you'd spend more time booing the players on the other side than you would getting behind your own lads.

Although we've looked relatively comfortable in possession, we've not really had an opportunity in front of goal yet. Southampton have probably had the better of the exchanges in the last 3/4 minutes.

Big Jurg looks like he's on a massive Sunday comedown on the touchline. Looks bereft, like he forgot to get a girl's number and knows in his heart that the two will never meet again.

As I pressed post Mane forces Forster into a terrific save with the ball going across him and seemingly heading for the top corner. Forster really is a terrific 'keeper.

What's less terrific is my works' lunch. Falafel sandwich that's as dry as a Government White Paper, and far less tasty.

There's a level of brutality to Southampton's play so far that wouldn't be out of place in Hell in a Cell. That said, it's working thus far.

Countinho has spent much of the half looking like he's lost control on a bouncy castle, such has been the way he's been buffeted by the Saints back line.

35 - Doufal with an awful backpass behind him to Firmino. Luckily for Saints they have both centre backs covering. Liverpool can't make anything of the chance.

Not sure whether it's just poorly placed TV microphones, but the Atmosphere inside Estadio Santa Maria is flatter than a Dosa. Suits us.
