Bars for over 40's / 50's in town.....info needed please
« on: December 3, 2010, 10:33:33 pm »
Hi all,

Out tomorrow with the lads from the veterans footy team and we are talking about heading into town around the 7 pm mark. Problem is most of us give town a wide birth these days and a lot of the pubs we used to 'frequent' we are told no longer exist...

My question is 'where do we head to and avoid a load of kids or deafening music?

Also, given the weather it would be great if they were reasonably close to each other...

Can anyone suggest a bit of a mini pub crawl of say half a dozen places where they have a decent bev, decent music at a reasonable volume (even karaoke?) and possibly some reasonable looking ladies that can provide a nice ambience ;)

take up the cudgels guys and see if yu can come up with anything.

All suggestions welcome and appreciated guys

Start out round Slater St at the Shipping Forecast.  It'll start getting loud at about 9 so head along the road to Santa Chupito's for a daft cocktail or three, should be chilled at that time.  Then it's old man's boozers for you for the rest of the evening.  The Dispensary on the corner near the bombed out church, up the hill to the Roscoe Head.  After hours either across the road to The Grapes or up the road to the Philharmonic

@ Veinticinco de Mayo The way you talk to other users on this forum is something you should be ashamed of as someone who is suppose to be representing the site.

Thanks for all the heads up gents.

Unfortunately, alcohol took hold as we left the Banjo in Bootle and we ended up crawling (literally) around said area. Jawbone, Stanley etc and then finally the ubiquitous Cat & Fiddle (more like the bar from Star Wars...)

Should have gone to town  :(
