I think the exact opposite, we've seen countless times where he comes back from injury and looks really rusty. I do hope this is just Rodgers being sneaky and not giving away whether he'll play or not yet, he'll be crucial.

You must be thinking of a different Daniel Sturridge to the rest of us then.....

Wonder if Brendan's doing his own bit of mind games with old Shitcoat...  Daniel seemed to add the "if the manager picks me" as an afterthought in the Clare Balding interview, almost as if that's what he'd been briefed to say.  The Pictures from training that have been released don't feature him and there's supposedly a late fitness test...  Maureen won't know what set up to prepare  - whether its Luis & Surridge up front as a two or Lius Sterling Coutinho as a three, or Luis, Daniel Sterling as a three or any number of permutaions behind with Coutinho and Sterling both capable of playing in a midfield diamond with Lucas, Allen & Gerrard, or as part of a midfield 3 with Allen & Gerrard.

If I were Maureen, I'd be in my own personal shithouse shed doing my head in with the permuations we're capable of both starting with and poetntially switching to during the game.

As it looks Daniel isn't the strongest in terms of stability and his performances vary with the level of fitness which seem to have a limit in terms of number of games in a row he is able to contribute..

Have this feeling myself and it cropped up when he decided to play for England earlier in the season. He seems to need to be 100% fit or he seems to be inhibited.

Don't think we'd be bothered to play games like that. BR is a front foot kind of bloke. He won't have Sturridge training away from the squad unless it is part of rehab and ideally he would want him involved.

I was hoping Sturridge would be back with the squad now but it seems unlikely now that he will start in any event.

I think he'll be in the squad for Sunday - I think these fitness tests will decide whether he starts or is on the bench.

This is what I think as well. Really hope he's fit enough to start, though. I think his pace could be the difference between a comfortable victory for us and a really close match.

Question for those in the know.

Would it be normal practice to keep a player away from the rough and tumble of a training session and work on him indoors given the nature of his injury?

Considering the immense backfire Kompany endured, I'd imagine Sturridge attends all team meetings and just stays at the gym.

Wasn't he at 70% for the first 3 games of the season when he scored the 3 winners?

Got a feeling he will play some part. Either starting or on the bench. There were no training pictures today.

I wonder if that's just to keep Chelsea guessing, although Rodgers usually tells it like it is. Even with what he said you can't rule out him not starting. This is a massive game and even at 75-80% I think he'll pay.

Surely irrelevant, all a rival manager needs to view our training is someone with a pair of eyes looking over the wall or through a window. In fact that would be much better than just seeing the pictures..

70% with a hamstring risks it re-occurring. If it was an ankle or a knock he'd be playing. Hamstrings can't usually be cheated by quick players.

Still in my humble opinion his best game in a Liverpool shirt (by some distance). Completely unplayable when he is in that mood.

Id start him right from the off even if he isnt 100%. Try getting a goal or two's lead then bring him off.

Its a risk, but matches like this have to be won and we just have to go for it now. in my opinion.

Have to say, I agree with this....it would have had to be a very very minor strain if he starts against Chelsea.

As long as he is at least on the bench it is good news.  We need the ability to change the game from the bench as we have done in the last 3 games which we have won by 1 goal.  Sturridge and Henderson out would represent less options.

If he is not a 100 per cent fit I'd start him on the bench. It's not worth risking otherwise. He can come  on and tire the Chelsea players at the end. Ideally a win is great of course, the most important thing is to avoid losing to Chelsea, they are the ones who have to win tomorrow.

So, no one knows.

Im not sure what you mean but my point is it would be quite easy to secretly watch our training sessions on any day, Melwood being surrounded by houses and with only a short wall. If a rival manager wanted insight into our training this would be the most effective way. All this said, I don't believe for a second that we do anything outside at Melwood that would indicate anything useful because of this issue.

The expression "starts on the bench" confuses me. Of course, it is literally perfectly plausible.

But "start" is associated with "starting eleven/XI", isn't it?

I think we need him here. When you tally his ability to score against the alternative of Lucas in midfield then that tells the story. I think against Norwich we got away with it a bit with Lucas and Allen both in there but it was clear to see we were missing a bit up top in the second half.

In an perfect world he gets another week rest and comes in v Palace and we still get the result but i just have a feeling we'll need him available to at least comes on with 20/30 minutes to go. Will be a massive bonus if hes 100% to go from the off.
