Adam Boulton made me want to spew with a quote. 'She had the eyes of Caligula and the lips of Marilyn Monroe'.
That is a quote translated from a French politician from a while back, thick bastard couldn't think of his own.

Will certainly be interesting to see'other' reactions. Some seem to think it's just us who feel so strongly. I'd suggest there would be plenty of disruption to any proposed minute's silence in a lot of grounds.

May not be true I guess we will have to wait and see,

People say you remember what you were doing on the day when "important" people die.  5 seconds before the news broke on the radio I was having my haircut.  5 seconds after I was dancing like a crazy person.

On Saturday Maltby Colliery closed after 100 years of operation. The Maltby Miners Welfare band led a parade through the town to a cemetery, where two wreaths were laid and a lump of coal buried. It survived Thatchers mothballing of a once great industry, though it was the scene of one of the most brutal clashes during the 1984 miners strike. Nicest thing I can say about Maggie is that she gave birth to the 21st Century. Though given that the person often regarded as giving birth to the 20th Century was Jack the Ripper, it may not be that great a compliment ;-)

RIP Maltby Colliery.

She hated millions of British people. It's no surprise that they hated her back. There was nothing decent or magnanimous about her. She vilified her opponents and luxuriated in their defeat. She had a narrow set of dogmatic beliefs that she acquired as a young woman and clung to them rigidly through the whole of her life, never learning anything new, never showing any curiosity about how people lived. It's no surprise that she almost tore the country apart and left bitter divisions which even now haven't properly healed. She also left a poisonous ideological legacy which says the free market can solve all our social and economic problems and that anything which restrains it is evil. It's why we're still fucked. It's why the rich and the privileged few are as entrenched as ever.

I'm glad she's dead.
spot on. we are still paying for it. the worst thing is the left have raised the white flag and adopted her language and ideology on the market and demonisation of unions.

Labour suspends campaigning after Thatcher death

Labour will suspend campaigning in the local elections until further notice following the death of Baroness Thatcher, senior party sources have told the Press Association.

Hopefully so they can all get pissed.

statement from Tony Blair:

“Margaret Thatcher was a towering political figure. Very few leaders get to change not only the political landscape of their country but of the world. Margaret was such a leader. Her global impact was vast. And some of the changes she made in Britain were, in certain respects at least, retained by the 1997 Labour Government, and came to be implemented by governments around the world.

“As a person she was kind and generous spirited and was always immensely supportive to me as Prime Minister although we came from opposite sides of politics.

“Even if you disagreed with her as I did on certain issues and occasionally strongly, you could not disrespect her character or her contribution to Britain’s national life.  She will be sadly missed.”

Ken Livingstone not joining the love-in at least:

"She created today's housing crisis. She created the banking crisis. And she created the benefits crisis. It was her government that started putting people on incapacity benefit rather than register them as unemployed because the Britain she inherited was broadly full employment. She decided when she wrote off our manufacturing industry that she could live with two or three million unemployed, and the benefits bill, the legacy of that, we are struggling with today. In actual fact, every real problem we face today is the legacy of the fact that she was fundamentally wrong."

Love twitter when things like this happen

Government cuts bite deep as former living Prime Ministers are slashed by 25%.

David Cameron once said as a young Conservative that he wishes he was more like Thatcher.. Right now Mr Cameron so do we ..

So Margaret Thatcher has died. Police are now treating the incident as 'hilarious'.

Upon hearing the news of Thatcher's death, Iain Duncan Smith has commented that he would have survived the stroke.

So the Iron Lady has finally died. Rust in Piece.

Thatchers been in Hell for 20 minutes and already shut 3 furnaces

Margaret Thatcher has died of a stroke. A stroke of good luck

Saville and now Thatcher. Great 12 months for minors.

Its long and complicated,  but she ripped the soul out of this country and the very people who built it to line the pockets of those who now control not just the economy but how we are allowed to think and be. She represents everything I and most Liverpool people hate .....and some Scottish bloke.
