It's not because the person he's feeding tends the miss the easier chances which is the point if iur buildup play.

If you square the ball for your striker and he misses an open goal then it's not your fault but that's with the caveat that the striker scores worldies .

You can’t make that argument for Diaz cause he doesn’t create chances, Salah looks on the wane and he still created two chances yesterday, Diaz simply hasn’t proven himself capable in that aspect of the game.

It was a lovely first touch - a difficult one to get right too - that put him through on goal. But was anyone surprised when he just slapped it at Pickford?

It's really unusual for Liverpool to have such a number 9 - someone from the Ron Davies, Wyn Davies, Kevin Davies school of centre forwards. There are many better strikers than Darwin in the Premier League at the moment - players with cooler heads and sharper minds. Occasionally there looks to be a player there - Newcastle away obviously, and the little movement he did to provoke the pass from Mac Allister for the Forest winner which suggested there was a player with craft. But mostly he looks as baffled by our play as Stan Colleymore did when he first arrived - and Colleymore actually improved a bit after a few months. Darwin hasn't. It's a massive come down from Bobby, someone who never rushed anything even when making quick decisions.

Slot has to bring Mats Wieffer with him doesn't he if we need a 6.

we mentally lost this at Old Trafford and all-but-completely lost it at Goodison. that is an unbelievably sad ending for one of our greatest managers. he deserved way better and has been let down.

going to be a bleak summer where i'll have to not think of football at all lol

Been let down by the same players that have got him here.

Is it? It seems to be his go to finish to be honest.

Maybe he can't handle pressure well?

It's done.

They need to win every game and we need to lose virtually every game.
Spurs are not beating arsenal, going to chelsea and winning, beating city and then coming to us and winning.

The Nunez thread is pretty awful, isn't it. Open season on him this morning.  :-\

Regarding the season as a whole, we've actually over achieved in many ways and would have done so to an even higher degree without the relentless injuries and the contribution of disastrous officiating by our old foes at the PGMOL.

If the season had started like it's finishing then I think perspectives would be vastly different overall. If we had a rough start but then got it together and put a trophy on the shelf and bagged a Champions League place then the overwhelming majority of us would be calling it a good season. Especially as it's something of a transitional one too.

I think the fact it happened the other way around, with us going well from the off and faltering at the death, has made it feel like a letdown instead. When all's said and done, though, this season is an improvement on last. The Bitters will be crowing this morning, but this season we've already won more than they have since 1995 and we'll finish higher than they have since 1987. I know they are no ones yardstick and our ambitions and ceiling are far higher than theirs, but it helps put things into perspective a little.

Which is very much a possibility with the way we're playing at the moment
That's one part of it but do you think Spurs will win every game?

It's Spurs and if you've watched them this season then you'll know that they're wildly inconsistent and very unlikely to win it.

It's disappointing to have it in our hands with 8 to play and be totally out of it with 4 to play but the top 4 worries are unfounded IMO.

Get me Arne and 5 new gods!

Funny how quick you can go from thinking everything is nearly fine to everything is broken but obviously it'll be somewhere in between as always. Every area apart from keeper needs something though so hopefully we're working on it, might as well go all out and sort things now while we're changing manager rather than waiting and waiting then having another excuse for being not good enough a year or two down the line.
