Happy with that.. Defence looks solid even without Matip. The referee has been an absolute disgrace though you can just see the bias oozing out of him. any sort of foul in the box and it's a peno for them guaranteed

I love how compact and solid we look. This first half is the type of performance really good teams show when the going gets tough. Great resilience from the lads and a quality finish from Lallana.

Mane or Origi should have finished off that chance towards the end but if we keep it up we should get another goal or two.

Thought Mane did well to create space for that shot - nice bit of movement.  Close to a 2-0 half time lead away from home there...it's not exciting but here's hoping it's efficient.

Not an easy game, not one bit.
Glad we took our chance, not many will come.
We'll probably carefully look for another one, but should make them work for it if they want to threaten us.
No silly fouls around the box, make them run, make them chase the ball.

slow and ponderous, we look out of ideas going forward, surprised when we scored though. Firmino has been poor again, Clyne and Mignolet excellent as well as Lallana... the defence looks its usual dodgy self too

I have to say, I was shocked to see Karius dropped and a little concerned. Desperate for Karius to do well here, and I'm not sure if I really blame him much for our goals conceded so far, however Mignolet has really commanded the area well today. He also seems to be much more vocal with the defenders, which I think is needed, seen as we do have quite a timid squad at times. I've been remarkably impressed, and he made some good saves, as well as some good decisions.

I think Karius will grow into the role at Liverpool, but it will take time to get that confidence and commanding attitude that you need as a goalkeeper, especially here at liverpool.

But for now, very impressed with Mignolet. I wouldn't change anything at half time, but would like to see maybe Moreno given a chance for possibly Firminho who has look tired in recent games, and would like to see Moreno's pace and width that he offers further forward.

Please let a game of ours be boring for once. No home goals for them, no drama. Will it happen?

We're getting better at breaking down the bus. Won't create many chances against it, but we took one when it mattered. One more and this match will break wide open.

I think we saw Firmino and Origi switch positions there a few times. Bob is just not getting the ball in dangerous situations. Either his movement isn't the same as before or our passing isn't as crisp and able to pick him out. It's a bit of a mystery.

Lallana magnificent as always on the ball, and the most determinant player on the pitch. Not only took his goal brilliantly but made a really important block that easily could have been a goal for Boro.

With Coutinho's injury which will be followed by Mane's absence for ACN Klopp should start thinking of some kind of a formation change which suits the players available better. It is obvious that Firmino is kind of wasted out wide, which can be said for Origi and Sturridge too, maybe we should go for the diamond. I think Klopp used it in one of the league cup matches with Sturridge and Origi upfront so it can't be that unsuitable to the high pressing game.

Decent half, didn't really control but we could've been 2 up at the break. Will take 1 but obviously we need another to avoid any issues. Mig looking solid so far so credit to him

Probably the worst half of football by Liverpool in a long time in terms of creativity. Just looking short of ideas and predictable, but luckily got the goal, so things should open up as long as we can keep it tight at the back.

I wondered if the match up between Milner and Traore was going to be interesting. Been pretty even for me... we're a bit meh in the middle/edge of final third tho , but with the injuries etc...

need to come out well, Mignolet almost keeping us in it with some very good saves... Please come out well Reds.

You'd expect that playing against a team who had conceded just 16 goals before today, no less on their home ground.
