Because we are English.

Scouse first, yes.

But we are English.
so what? some people are more local patriotic and don't give a shit about nationalities. After all, it's just a matter of coincidence anyway, you could've been born anywhere, nothing you could do about it.

Enrique should of made the tackle, too many times thise season hes been guilty of that.

No, he should have ran straight back towards the goal, getting his bulky frame in the way of Ramires and the goal.

Of course, Reina should have saved it and Spearing should not have given them the ball in the first place too.

i saw someone in the first couple of pages saying that downing stepped up his game in the second half......kill me now.
It's true though. Of course you have to take it in the context of his first half performance being the worst by any professional footballer in the history of the game. But you know, improvement is improvement.

Deflated. 5-4-1 clearly wasn't working. Second half 4-4-2 we looked a completely different team.
Just not our day.

My point was that Kenny signed Suarez (and Coates, Enrique and Doni).  Not sure any of them have a British passport.

Kenny Dalglish believes his team will learn a valuable lesson from their 2-1 FA Cup final defeat to Chelsea – and has backed them to go from strength to strength next season.

A strike from substitute Andy Carroll gave the Reds hope after goals from Ramires and Didier Drogba, but Dalglish admitted his side upped their game too late.

He cited nerves and inexperience as possible factors but claimed positives could be gleaned for the future.

"They were excellent for the last half hour but the game lasts for 90 minutes," reflected the boss. "If you're playing against the quality of Chelsea, you cannot give them a two-goal start and expect to give yourself an opportunity to get something from the game.

"I don't think the first hour was a true reflection of the quality we had out there. Whether it was a lack of experience in the situation – maybe they just had more experience than us.

"Maybe they were just a wee bit nervous – a lot of them are just youngsters, or relatively young and inexperienced at this level.

"Chelsea are thoroughbreds, they've been through the course before. Maybe that was it.

"The way they finished the last half hour should give them the belief and confidence that they are better than they think they are.

"It's a hard lesson. The same group of players will be better for the experience they had there, and the experience they've had from the previous part of the season."

Asked if he would now delve into the transfer market, Dalglish added: "The same group of players will move on. Whether other people come in won't be dictated by today's result."

Liverpool were denied an equaliser after the officials deemed an Andy Carroll header not to have crossed the line after Petr Cech palmed the ball onto the crossbar.

Dalglish said: "I haven't seen it but somebody said, 'Sometimes you get them, sometimes you don't.' This time we never got it.

"And if the officials got it right, I hope they get the credit they deserve.

"Considering they're in the Champions League final, Chelsea know how to win games, but as good as they are, you still need a bit of good fortune to win games, and maybe they had a little bit of good fortune that denied us an equaliser.

"But credit to Chelsea – if you're the better team for an hour, you're going to be disappointed if you don't get a positive result."
"I like to educate players. You train dogs, I like to educate players both on and off the field."

Enrique should of made the tackle, too many times thise season hes been guilty of that.

I agree he has been poor the last couple of months but spearing shouldn't of given the ball away so easy in the first place.   3 mistakes for that goal and all the players areequally culpable.

I have to agree.

That is quite a gulf in quality there.  And to be honest i really dont rate Mikel one bit which is even
more alarming.

For me the game was lost in midfield in that first hour and we have to be realistic and say that we are not good enough in that department.  I dont think kenny is to blame because he started with a team that we all thought was our best starting eleven, he was let down, again, by the players which are just not good enough.
I think henderson will come good given time.  But i just dont see nothing in spearing and downing to suggest they should be here past the summer.  It's all very well to say keep spearing as backup to lucas but what happens if lucas gets injured again, it could happen, we would be up shit creak if we had to call on spearing for a prolonged period again.  Downing has, and never will have, the bottle to compete at the highest level, period!

Meireles, who didn't even start for Chelsea today, has as many PL assists for Liverpool this season as Henderson and Downing combined.

That is the gulf in quality in midfield between the two clubs.

Can't believe how poor we were for the 1st 60mins. Apart from picking spearing and not including Maxi I didn't have too many complaints over the starting line up.

However I stated we had to go at Chelsea from the off - we had too.

But no we sat back and looked like a Div 2 team playing a PL team and show far too much respect to them.

Disappointed- very disapointed

Did you give the same support to Hodgson? Just asking, if you did then good for you. However, Kenny has been blessed with a wonderful ownership for 18 months now and we have not progressed. Maybe a little progress but not a good return on money spent. I agreed that Roy had to go. Never called him names. Never will call Kenny names either, but we may need to move on. I dread every game we play at Anfield now, that's how bad it is.
Loved the YNWA in added time. Class support for the club.

What the actual fuck does Hodgson have to do with it? Hodgson is not one of us for innumerable reasons, some of which where not his fault and many more of which he subsequently demonstrated. Kenny is. Kenny, for all he's done for us in the past, deserves support, respect and time—if he wants to go, fair enough—but if we boot him, we're no longer any different from any other plastic club, and any notion that we're any longer somehow special is gone. I can't believe some of our Bulls fans still can't get their head around this.

Prior to the game there were a lot of worries about our midfield in comparison to Chelsea's but there wasn't that much between them in all fairness. Spearing made a bad mistake for the first and Ramires was too quick and strong for Enrique and Lampard got past our midfield for the second far to easily. Aside from that, they didn't really dominate, though in fairness, they didn't need to, we didn't do much until Carroll came on and we were 2-0 down.

I think it's clear it's an area we need to improve in next season as none of our players bar Lucas can play well in that position. Some may with other players beside them but in absolute terms, we need to improve that area. That'll go a long way to making us a better side.

And Carroll - we should be using him more and today showed what he's capable of. More of that from him please and more of us using him please.
We have to change from doubter to believer. Now.

Bad goals conceded at bad times. Seemed disinterested before the first goal and once we were behind Chelsea were always going to be happy to soak up the pressure with one eye on the CL final but we didn't stretch them as we needed to until Carroll came on.

Bit of a conundrum about bringing Carroll on though - all season we have been concerned about the ability of Carroll and Suarez to play together and, by common consent, it would appear the midfield was where we lost it today so the logical early switch would have been a midfielder (or Kuyt?) rather than Carroll - would we have done this if we were still 1-0 down?

The positive I take from today (Yay! PMA! PMA!) is Carroll's goal - the close control was magnificent and if he can now take (and have) the chance to bond with Suarez and Gerrard for next Season good times could lie ahead.

Overall, though, the story of our Season - we've shown that we can do it, just not on a clinical or consistent enough basis!

We didn't show up for the first 60 minutes and I think it was down to the tempo being set by Chelsea early on in the match. We were unable to keep possession (and when we did, it was in our own half) and it allowed Chelsea to play higher up the pitch and get on the front foot. We conceded two goals from mistakes that could have been avoided, but ultimately the fault is still ours.

However, we did begin to play in the last 30 minutes, forcing Chelsea onto the back foot and got a goal to get us back in the game. I think a second goal was on the cards, but perhaps it was too late when we got our first goal. That said, I think we showed more determination and good play in the final 30 minutes than Chelsea did in the first 60. I wouldn't say who deserved to win the match, but I would say we deserved to get to extra time at least.

All in all, it's a shame for Carroll that there are only two matches left this season as he put in one of his most promising performances this season (albeit for a shortened amount of time).

What a load of fucking bollocks. When was that rule brought in? Tactically, sometimes the way to win is to let a team come on to you and then make subs to take advantage of a tiring team. Not saying that's what we did but being outplayed for two-thirds of the match doesn't mean you deserve to lose. We should have won it in the second half and were well on top when that shithouse Drogba did his usual audition for Casualty.

I told the two Chelsea fans in front of me that he was a fucking shithouse and they had to agree. Expect the same in Munich if Chelsea are winning and Bayern look like getting any rhythm going.

I despise the prick.

He was very clever when he went down for 5 minutes, he broke up our momentum a tad, I said to the Mrs he knew what he was doing, and as much as I despise all that shite, I wouldnt be critical if the tables were turned.

Tactically Kenny got it all wrong for me, it seemed as if we were playing for a draw and penalties, too afraid to attack. For 50 minutes we had nothing going for us, Suarez was isolated up top chasing nothing balls and our wide men were ineffective. Pepe was poor for the first goal. It was only when we conceded the second goal that changes were forced upon us and Carroll came on, then we looked like a side who wanted to win.

Returning to the age old, tried and tested "Liverpool way" of hoofball got us back into the match. It wasn't pretty, it wasn't good on the eye, but launching it onto Carroll's head at every opportunity did make us look the more menacing of sides in the second half. Chelsea were unable to cope with the hoof, Chelsea hung on.

As for the non-goal? It wasn't a goal, let's be honest lads. We can open paint up, draw white lines across the goalmouth and erase Cech/the crossbar as much as we like, but the ball did not 100% cross the line.
