Christ, some of the comments in here are embarrassing

It's a charity match helped organised by 2 of our former players. They are trying to extract some of the biggest names in football in order to get a good gate and raise money for a good cause

I get Torres and Terry, former team mates of Stevie, but Drogba??
On the Carragher documentary, Drogba praises Carra to high heaven and says if he ever needs any help fundraising he will be there.

Get a grip lads.

Indeed. For one evening that was a prospect if I remember correctly.

As for everything else said in here, it's good to see a solid 80% of folk rise above the smalltime style and see the wider context and impact of such a match. Lord knows I despise Terry and Drogba, and Torres caused untold heartbreak which I'm never ashamed to admit. But I'm an Atleti fan as well and sometimes you just have to get behind what is in front of you.

This is for some great causes, and when it's over, we can rain down once again on anything associated with the rancid blue gang of helmets.

No sorry I don't want John Terry in the city of Liverpool invited, never mind the ground.

Drogba, fair enough, yeah he's Chelsea through and through but he's not a racist, teammates wife shagging prick.

I'd rather have Alex Ferguson managing one of the teams and Roy Hodgson the other, than have John fucking Terry welcomed to Anfield.

I agree. Terry is in a completely different league to Ferguson, Hodgson, Drogba and Torres.

I'd imagine Terry and Gerrard are probably friends through England, and I don't see the issue with Drogba - yes, he's Chelsea and a diving git, but was one of the league's best strikers when Gerrard was in his pomp. I can understand both selections. Plus it's a charity match.

Almost puked in my own mouth when I saw Terry on the list, but that's a bit unfair. Its a good cause and I assume Stevie would have done the invites, so good on him for saying yes to coming to Anfield, and doing his bit.

Fair play to John Terry. Never thought I would ever, ever say that, but he's being a lot more mature than some people on here.. He's doing his bit to help disabled children in Liverpool: rivalry or even sheer loathing should be put aside for that I think.

So again, fair play, and I hope those in attendance leave out the vitrol. If only just for the afternoon.
It's just sex and violence, melody and silence.

John Terry is a horrible prick

He is a horrible prick but as someone said earlier
Whatever you think of Terry, and he's a monumental prick, he's giving up his time to play in a match, during a busy time in Chelsea's season, for Charity, in a stadium that will be full of people who have sung about his Mum loving scouse cock. He could easily have swerved this but hasn't. Fair play I say.

And John Terry.

Seriously. Sound that it's for charity and sound that people are giving up their free time to take part in the match but the fact is Terry is an absolute fucking scumbag. This isn't about petty hate because a player dived like Drogba used to do or even about the bitterness of Torres going to Chelsea, both of those are easily overlooked for an event like this but Terry?

The man is a racist twat who has committed some despicable acts in the past and therefore whether he's mates with Gerrard or not he should be nowhere near our great club for such event. Again this isn't about footballing rivalries or having a flimsy agenda. He's a scumbag.

So which shirts will they play in? Any chance of seeing Torres and Suarez together in a Liverpoolshirt, or will they be neutral?

I mean, John Terry will obviously not play in red. I was hoping to see two teams in Liverpoolshirts to be honest, but the Terry/Drogba inclusion makes that impossible.

What's all this business of getting actual seasoned and talented players to appear?! Like any proper charity game we should be seeing Istvan Kozma in a centre back pairing with DJ Spoony and Jimmy Corkhill playing left back. The opposition team is supposed to have that fella who's mates with Robbie Williams but nobody knows why he's famous and some gobshite from Hollyoaks in goal.

And for good measure, Ricky Tomlinson playing the role of manager.

Fume.

The man has been invited by our captain to support charity. If supporting disabled kids isn't a good enough reason to leave out the abuse for the afternoon, then surely we should do so to avoid our captain being embarrassed by his own supporters?

And no, I don't think your assessment of Terry is wrong, but it's not as if we've been short of opportunities to ventilate our real opinion on him...

This...

Anyone who boos anyone in a friendly match for charity needs to take a look at themselves.
Absolutely agree, hope that won't be the scene.

That said, can't wait to see Kuyt and Alonso back (in a liverpool shirt!).
it comes down to reality, and it's fine with me cause I've let it slide...

I'm not advocating that Terry should be abused during the match because like you say he's been invited. The problem is that he should never of been invited in the first place. Yes it's Gerrard's choice and yes it's for a good cause but Terry should be nowhere near Anfield. He represents everything we are against.

As for Gerrard being potentially embarrassed by his own supporters....if it happens then he only has himself to blame.

I get Torres and Terry, former team mates of Stevie, but Drogba??

The event, which has been organised by Liverpool FC's official charity, the Liverpool FC Foundation, will bring together two teams that will be selected by Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher as some of the most influential players they have played with or against...

...Proceeds raised will help to fund the Liverpool FC Foundation's community programmes, which benefit thousands of young people and adults throughout the city of Liverpool.

Funds will also support Alder Hey's new Hospital in the Park, as well as providing support packages to Claire House, Positive Futures, Centre 56 and Cash for Kids.

We played Chelsea many times in many games under Rafa and Drogba and Terry were two of the most influential players in that team.
