You are wrong on London though. So many amazing pubs and if you know the place it's easy to pick an area for a pub crawl. Also unless you plan to drive (why would you) traffic isn't an issue at all. All a bit intimidating if you don't know how to navigate around though so I'll give you that.

Disagree.  It is the worst city in S.E. Asia by a mile.  Don't get me wrong, the food is awesome (but it is all over Thailand/Asia) and there are some great things to see also, and I did love it the first few times I went, but now I have a dislike of the place - probably just because everything else in Asia is so much better imo.

Ive lived in SE Asia for a while now and Bangkok is still the best City.  Closely rivaled by HCMC.

Lived in Malaysia for over a year and have been to Indonesia a number of times (although Jakarta nearly made the list, it has to be said).  Lived in Vietnam for 5 years too and agree with HCMC which pisses all over Bangkok imo, as does Hanoi, Phan Thiet, Dalat, Vung Tau, Nha Trang, Can Tho, Yangon, Phnom Penh, Singapore, Jahor Baru, KL, Alor Setar, Kangar, Ipoh, Georgetown, Songkhla, Phukett, Hat Yai, Manilla, Cebu, Tagbilaran and a plethora of other cities in SE Asia (apologies for any spelling mistakes in all that lot).  It is, of course, only mt opinion though.

I think it is in the feel of the place rather than what is on offer for me.  I have Dallas in my list and yet have Houston in my list of cities that I love.  Dallas is the more pretty; but Houston is wonderful.  I suppose it is down to the people more than the city structures.

As people say its all about opinions but I love Sheffield spent 3 years there for Uni . All cities have there shit areas which Sheffield does badly , but I enjoyed living there .

I live in NE Thailand and have visited Bangkok many, many times. It's no dirtier than any other major metropolis, like London or New York. If you try hard enough anywhere you'll find something to criticise.

I wouldn't say that I hate any cities in particular, but some are massively over-rated (Paris being the prime example) and some are downright disappointing. Montreal is probably the most disappointing major city I've ever been to. Imagine Sheffield transported to North America and you'll get the idea

Problem wasn't really Chiang Mai, but they kind of tourist it attracts. I have no issue with Backpackers, but it seemed full of Backpackers who go on about socialism and there "way of life" like they were in The Levellers. The reality was they were all rich kids who could afford a year out cos Daddy took care of them.

Plus Chiang Mai has some natural beauty, although not enough to compensate for it being quite a boring place.

Thailand is a big place so although Chiang Mai is not a million miles from where I am it's far enough to put me off going there. Did it just the once and I was fairly dull really. Great countryside nearby but I couldn't recommend the city itself. It's not a terrible place, just not worth going to

As far as I am concerned, no cathederal = not a city.

Yes the likes of St Albans and Bury St Edmunds have smaller populations but have cathederals
and a fair amount of charm.  Stoke is shit.

But Bury St Edmunds isn't a city, although St Albans is. Having a cathedral doesn't confer city status. Off the top of my head, Guildford and Blackburn have cathedrals but aren't cities, while places like Brighton and Leeds (I think) don't have cathedrals but are cities

I have lived in Bangkok for almost 2 years, and to be fair, it is dirtier than any other city I have been to - it is basically the opposite of Stockholm in this regard (and in every regard I can think of, actually). The main reason is the congested traffic and the food vendors who empty out their chicken juice and whatnot in the street and/or the sidewalk. It's not something that bothers me too much, it's just that walking around here, it smells like microwaved garbage.

I don't go out very much because I can't stand that stereotypical "type" of foreigner who might come here. There are plenty like Wallington and myself who are just normal lads living abroad, but there are also the fucknut backpacking heroin-bingeing brain-dead ladyboy-seeking twats like we know from "The Beach" as well as the dirty old men who come here and have their hair dyed a radioactive shade of orange and pop steroids and viagra and start looking like Duke Nukem's grandfather, Puke Nukem. Those c*nts can do one. The other night I went to a Thai night club with some of my students - just young Thai people there and it was a cracking and relaxing good time.

Yes it is overpriced and has too many Chel$ea fans. In its defence, there are lots of interesting places, great museums, great night life and culture, decent public transport and more green spaces than many cities of the same size have.
