We should just concentrate on the League Cup now.

This. We are way off the pace in the League, so we should focus on the EFL Cup.

Are we still in it? I thought we were out!

My god almighty... twice I peered into the thread for the Man City/Chelsea game.... doom and gloom in there! Why? How? *Looks at watch*... it's December isn't it? Isn't it? Can't literally get my head around it. Hats off to Chelsea and going there and getting a convincing win... hats off. Well done - not many will go to City and get a result (bar the few that have). An impressive run of games they've won.. looking very very good. Definitely contenders. As are Man City still - even without Aguero for a bit. As are Spurs again, after being 'out of it' a few days ago. I dunno... can we just enjoy it for what it is?

And I'll tell you what it is... it's quite simple. There are a number of teams looking like they could win a title. Six of them in fact, and after Leicester winning last season, pick and choose an outsider, for it is December. Thankfully we're one of the six, and teams will pick up, and teams will dip, then teams will go on a run, and teams will drop points (1 from 9 etc). They will. We will. Shit will happen, good and bad for all teams. Unted could go on a great run... why not? Cause we've been laughing at them for a while? Course they could.

Can we not just enjoy it tho? We've got Coutinho out for a while... so what? Seriously... so fucking what? You'd think the world had ended reading some posts. Pick yourselves up the lot of yer who are in that camp.

I'm going to enjoy it.

Not true.

Palace put the slightest bit of pressure, scored 2. West Brom showed nothing all game until 75th min, then started to play and scored. Watford showed nothing until 70th minute then started to play and scored. Swansea had us on the ropes from the first minute and could've scored 3/4 in the first half but they tired second half, allowing us to get back into it. Man Utd pressed us at times and we gave away some silly openings.

Chelsea we dominated first half when they sat back, then they got themselves together and could've made it 2-2 but Costa missed a sitter. We dominated Leicester for 40 mins, we were pressed and gave away a soft goal. We dominated Spurs for 60 mins, they had a spell of pressure and made it 1-1. Arsenal we were 4-1 up, conceded 2 in 10 mins once they started to attack us. First half we were dominated too as they pressed us high but began to tire. Even Leeds and Sunderland had some big chances. We were lucky Southampton didn't bother attacking, the one time they did Austin headed just wide. Burnley, Clyne was pressed early on, gave it away and scored.

We don't deal well with sustained pressure or a high pressing side. Our resilience and character IS improving because otherwise we'd have dropped more points but people act like every game has been plain sailing for us.

You have a strange definition of folding, we're unbeaten in 15 and have lost once all season. :)

Yeah, but we still won or drew those games, it's not like the other team ended up winning. Even you say that our resilience and character are improving.

Can you name a team who has had a season of 'plain sailing' this season?

What a load of negative bollocks.

Put a marker down  ;D

We've put about six down already this season.

Need to put a marker down by beating a weakened Arsenal
Need to put a marker down by beating Leicester
Need to put a marker down by beating Chelsea
Need to put a marker down 'cos Hull is the sort of game we normally struggle in'
Need to put a marker down cos actually...'Swansea away is the sort of game we normally struggle in'
Need to put a marker down cos actually, really actually, 'West Brom at home is the sort of game we ACTUALLY struggle in'
Need to put a marker down because this time for real, Palace away is the sort of game we do struggle in
Need to put a marker down because for real, Watford at home is the sort of game we do usually struggle in
Need to put a marker down cos definitely this time, Sunderland is the sort of game we struggle in

To be fair, keep saying it and you'll be right eventually :) This is the sort of game we usually muck up and we need to put a marker down. Fact.

We're long overdue a good 60+pages of post-match thread gurning.

Christ almighty anyone would think we were having a shit season.

Wtf is this buffoonery that we fold under pressure?  We're unbeaten in 15, 3rd in the league with a game in hand, in the semi final of a cup competition and had 3 clean sheets on the bounce.

Tomorrow is a different opponent to the last few games, they're unlikely to sit deep and defend for 90 minutes.  They like to play football, they try to score goals, they try to win games but what they definitely haven't got is the quality to beat us.

Sure they'll press us, sure they'll attack us but they'll leave holes all over the shop for us to exploit in doing so.

Be patient, play our own game, don't panic and it's an easy 3 points that'll keep the pressure on those around us.  Anyone who thinks we'll struggle and lose against fucking Bournemouth needs taking out and given a good going over.

Fucking bed wetting pussies  :butt

No idea what to expect tomorrow. Last week Moyeseh pretty much told us his plans in advance. Bus parking either ends up with a frustrating draw, or we eventually find an opening and from then on it's fairly simple. Don't think Howe will do that, so I think we could be in for a game like Palace away.

We dont need to put a marker down. We just need to win the game. We have put plenty of markers already against Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal, Leicester, Hull and Watford.

Didn't say we need to. Said I want us to.

I want teams shitting themselves having to play against us and the way you do that is by smashing lads. You don't make teams fear you just by winning games in my opinion, you do it by smashing teams.

Teams go in thinking let's just keep the score down and fold as soon as you go 1-0 or 2-0 and are happy to just get out of there without a 5-0.

When does the tide actually turn and people become confident? There is no easy game in this league but we're a fucking great side and great sides don't go to places like Bournemouth and fear what they can do to us. We strike fear in to the hearts of teams like that, not the other way around.

Yeah they might have been able to play some nice football against Arsenal but we aren't Arsenal we like to get in amongst teams and disrupt them. People seriously need to start believing. It beggars belief that you have people worried about every single game when it should be the opposite. We're near the top of the table and dominating games has become a regular occurrence. Games where we struggle have become the exception rather than the rule and people really should take that in to account.

Expecting a confident and professional 2-0 win for us tomorrow, but if that isn't the case and we end us losing or drawing it still won't be the end of the world. We spend years harbouring dreams of title challenges and then when we actually get involved in one people turn in to fannies and don't enjoy it.

If we aren't leading 3-0 at half time don't fret, there's still another 45 minutes to go, maybe try having a positive attitude and you'll enjoy the game a bit more. At the end of the day that's what we're all here for, to enjoy our beloved reds on their march towards a first title in nearly 3 decades.

Are we still in it? I thought we were out!

Looking forward to this game. Bournemouth have been like a breath of fresh air under Howe. Hopefully it will be nice to see a team come out and actually try playing Football against us.

Far too often in recent weeks teams have concentrated on nullifying our pressing game and have deliberately conceded possession and concentrated on getting men behind the ball.

The bed wetting is laughable. Ooo, Chelsea won, big bad Arsenal scored five. OMG, Spurs did, too! Who gives a fuck! Anyone would still think Roy Hodgson was still in charge the way some are carrying on!

We concentrate on our own task. Bournemouth won't be pushovers, but the last time I checked, no game is a given in this league.

Well that's just stupid. Didn't our manager ask us to change from doubters to believers 12 months ago?

Yes but just because Jurgen says something doesn't mean he wipes away 25 years of 'nearly'.

I wasn't talking about me personally, but you asked a question about our fanbase collectively. I speak for myself when I say that I allowed myself to dream under Rafa and we didn't win it. We then had the best player in the world and played some of the best attacking football we've seen in 20 years under Brendan and we still didn't win it.

Now don't get me wrong, we're playing some great football and I expect us to win every game we play which is a feeling I haven't had since 13/14, but its 3rd December and we're in possibly the most competitive PL season in history. Can we win it? Yes. Do I believe we will? Ask me that question in March.....  ;D

For what its worth, I think we'll beat Bournemouth by at least 2 goals tomorrow  :scarf

We’ll still finish in top four - and they won’t. You can quote me on this in May.

I've only had about 22 years of 'nearly' so I'm still relatively fresh. I just don't understand the logic behind a section of the fanbase wetting their pants the second we actually look like challenging for a title. This is what we all want and have dreamed about so why not enjoy the process and if we come up short then go again next year. Personally I feel we are better equipped now more than ever to end the drought. (This isn't really aimed at you more the people moaning)  :)
So bloody what? If you watch football to be absolutely miserable then go watch cricket.

We dont need to put a marker down. We just need to win the game. We have put plenty of markers already against Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal, Leicester, Hull and Watford.
Don't you know that we have to put a marker down every game?

Here's how I'm hoping we line up tomorrow.

Karius
Clyne Matip Lovren Milner
Hendo
Lallana Can
Mane Origi Firmino

If Lallana isn't fit enough to start then Wijnaldum comes in for him.

I've been hearing a lot about a new player in the squad, someone named Marker?  Think he'll only make the bench and will come on late if we need a goal.

So a marker then?

Yes, we gotta play Marker Grujic for this one.

A win and were still a point off the top. How anyone can have any uncertainties regarding the league after Chelseas form is beyond me. Theres still 24 games to go. They are still to go to Old Trafford, Anfield, Goodison Park, and  White Hart Lane. They'll drop points its inevitable. Just take it step by step.

Tough game this one, Bournemouth have the skill to mix it up a bit more I think than your usual bus parking tripe like Burnley and West Brom.

Yeah, with all things taken into consideration, (Ibe being cuptied, Gerry Byrne's broken collar bone etc) even in the unlikely event of a win against Bourncelona, it is still mathematically impossible for us to catch Chelsea. Worst thing that ever happened to us was that win at the Bridge - false dawns are going to be the death of me. I miss that mid-table security blanket feeling.
