Feels like a massive win.  Sunderland played well till Origi's goal, then it all opened up and they were fucked.

What a fuckin goal Origi! Take a bow son!
We’ll still finish in top four - and they won’t. You can quote me on this in May.

So if the news is that Coutinho hasn't broken his foot, I guess that means the concern was always about a break and not muscle/ligament damage? if true then maybe it could just be a bruised bone or something.

...and the moral of the story is stuck with the team, believe in the manager and don't wet yourself at half time because we're not winning 8-0. Teams are going to make it hard, we need to trust them to find a way through.

Moyes and Sunderland got what they deserved, fuck all, and now they're bottom of the league again. Good.

This.

Depressing the amount of bed wetters in the crowd but it's not just a Liverpool problem nobody has an attention span longer than the length of a wet fart these days and everyone expects everything to be perfect. I wouldnt have another single manager in world football right now in place of Klopp. He will win us the league maybe not this season but it's inevitable at some stage.

I'm not going to give the negative Nellies any credence by quoting their pathetic offerings. This is the type of gritty win we need to have any chance of winning anything. Type of win previous top teams have churned out.

Coutinho will be a loss but it should be an opportunity for Klopp to tweak the team ,someone to come in and make a name for themselves. Be positive, onwards and upwards.

Nah, we won three points.

Regardless of how long he's out for we won't have to play the rest of the season with ten men like some seem to think. Cheer up and grab a beer!

Initial more positive assessment is lfc DON'T think Coutinho ankle broken

Seems better than feared.

It seemed like one of those where you both hit the ball at the same time and all the force goes straight into your foot, hurts like hell but mostly heals quickly.

Thank God.

The difficult wins against ppl you expect to beat are where the players earn their money, and where the fans need to be supportive.

We are fucked I'm afraid. There is no way we win the league without Coutinho for a significant portion of time.
I hate to be a pessimist but that is just how I see it, we lost the league today.

I wish I could be happy but I'm gutted. That doesn't mean I'm not happy we won but if you would have told me yesterday we were winning 2-0 but Phil is potentially out for months, there is no way i would have accepted that.

Initial reports suggest that it's not as bad as we feared, and that he might be back much sooner than a few weeks.

Lovely, was clear after about 5 minutes that this was gonna be a match where we'd just have to grind our way to a win and we've seen us fail to do it so many times before.

Dreading the Coutinho update. Not that the options are bad if we have to switch things around in his absence, but he's obviously one of the keys to us being an attacking force.

Klopp actually chastised the crowd after Henderson (I think) made a poor play and reminded the fans to be positive

Yeah, totally. It was after Henderson's hoofed chip into the hoardings.

He'd been exploding at the players before then, though. I was just kind of assuming that the problem wasn't tactical but a question of belief / attitude, which the crowd was picking up on... amateur psychologist here, feel free to disregard, ha ha!

I absolutely hate Moye's teams, he seems to teach his players to commit niggly fouls all match, but just enough so refs will allow most of them, and I have to say the man is a shit house, I have never seen him try to beat us, no matter who he's managing.

The lads believed though, kept going to the end and got their just rewards, and Klopp! You have to love the man, the passion is wonderful. Hope the news isnt too bad on our little brazilian magician, and hope firmino is just bruised.
I almost feel for Divock, it must be hard for him being behind so many good players, but there is definitely some talent there.

Onwards and upwards

Tremendous performance from the lads today. Just kept going. I always felt like a goal was inevitable, the way we were playing.

Excellent from Firmino, Wijnaldum, Henderson, Can, Mane, Matip and Karius. Origi looked sharper as the game went on as well.

The slightly sad reality is there is not a single player on this Liverpool side that is so critical, so world class that we stop functioning without him. Conversely, we can afford to lose anyone and still be optimistic about the results. I think we'll still finish creditably in the league even if coutinho retired tomorrow.

Don't be such a drama queen. I don't know if you've noticed the bespectacled gentleman sat on our bench for the last year or so, but I think he's the most important factor and there is no way he's throwing in the towel because a player is out for a bit. He's probably already got a few plans to deal with such a situation, he doesn't strike me as someone who puts all his eggs in a single basket. We're not Coutinho FC. It's a blow, no doubt, but to give up when we'll finish the weekend one point off the top, at worst, seems a bit silly.

We've seen what this team can do with a fully fit Coutinho for a full season. It can finish 7th.

We're not a 1 man reliant side. The only man who is indispensable is Jurgen Klopp.

Excellent result today.

If we can't get decent results in our next 3 (Bournemouth, West Ham, Middlesbrough) without Coutinho - we would never have won the title anyway.

C'mon you sexy, sexy reds.

Had that sinking feeling for about 10 minutes of the second half, thinking it was deffo one of 'those' matches. I didn't consider the idea that Klopp would be giving the crowd pelters and change the entire dynamic in the ground. If the crowd is the twelfth man, then Klopp is definitely the thirteenth. Brilliant goal from Young Divock too, he clearly thought 'bollocks. let's have a crack'. From then on it was pretty much plain sailing. Onwards and upwards, delighted to have kept that clean sheet too, the goal difference is starting to have an effect. Now we just have to hope for Spurs to sort out Chelsea...
