Liverpool Ladies Football Club today announced a new shirt sponsorship deal with iconic women's beauty and cosmetics company, Avon Products Inc, ahead of the WSL Spring Series.

The three-year agreement is the first of its kind for LLFC and will see Avon become the first independent shirt sponsor to grace the front of the Reds shirt.

Good news about the Avon sponsorship, I guess it means that the Ladies team can cover more of their own costs rather than using the men's teams money. Hopefully we can be more competitive than we have been for the last 18 months or so. As above, it does seem like City & Chelsea are carving up the titles between themselves because of their financial doping but there is always hope.

I think this will be an issue for many of the clubs, without ways to generate revenue and no (big) men's club supporting them, there could be more casualties as costs rise.

As if it isn't enough they're dominating youth team football(the FA youth cup has now become unwatchable for me), they're now doing it to the women's football. I really detest Abramovich and Chelsea and I'm now starting to hate City as well.

a good win for the Liverpool Ladies today in their first league game of the new season, a 4-1 away victory vs Yeovil Ladies.

They added to the win against Yeovil by beating Reading 4-2 at home recently.

Today they're playing Arsenal away and they're 3-1 up at half-time. Sadly the match doesn't seem to be televised anywhere. LFC tv are missing a trick here, I'm sure lots of us would rather watch LFC put Arsenal to the sword than watch the dross served up by Man Utd.

I'm not surprised, considering they've let their match programme editor go, as well as all the other cuts going on at the club. Nevertheless, Sunderland had kept clean sheets in their last four matches, so it shows how good our attack is at the moment.

We're still top of the league, courtesy of Arsenal beating Man City, but Chelsea, Man City and Arsenal are only 1 to 2 points behind us and all have a game in hand, plus our goal difference has just taken a massive hit too. Very bad day at the office for the team.

Playing Man City in the last game of the Spring Series. Currently we're 1-0 down which has us, considering the other scores in the other matches, firmly rooted in 4th.

The match is live on BBC online, which I've only just found out. I wish that it was a bit better advertised that it was going to be shown live. Here's the link in any case: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/39899228

Finished 3-1 to City, we had a lot of nice play around the box, but with no real penetration, although City have some excellent defenders, so it was always going to be a struggle to get past them. Defensively we weren't too bad, but two of their goals came from some absolutely shocking keeping.

We finish the Spring Series in 4th place. Now just over a month wait until the Euros begin.

I was very impressed with van de Sanden's movement, actually had never seen her play before and at times she looked abit like a one-dimensional speed merchant on the wing, but i liked the way she can capitalize on space and her defensive work.

Not Liverpool but Arsenal have dropped the 'Ladies' from their name and will only be described as 'Arsenal Women' when further clarification is needed, the rest of the time it'll just be 'Arsenal'

This is generally the done thing anyway for the most part, but it's just never spoken about as being a deliberate move like Arsenal are saying here. If you do get a ladies or a women on the end it usually happens as part of media coverage. It drives me mad when I'm watching games on TV and a presenter/commentator feels the need to say 'Liverpool Ladies' or other such like when it's blatantly obvious the players are female. Or when I'm on the BBC website clicking through to look at the league table and even though it clearly states 'Women's Super League' as the table header it still has to use ladies and women for the club names within said table.

I would really love for us to drop ladies in favour of women also and only use the latter when absolutely necessary. I was very disappointed we never bothered to switch to women back in 2013 when we did the big overhaul. Despite us technically being 'Liverpool Ladies', I only ever refer to us as the womens team's and only when it can't be helped. Having said that - the double L does mean Liverpool Ladies rolls off the tongue better and is probably one of very few examples of 'something Ladies' sounding alright.

They're pushing it as one club which is great, further equality between the mens and womens teams but they still won't give us shared bank accounts ;)

It's a big step though, the Women's Super League table looks great with just having 'Arsenal' instead of 'Arsenal Ladies' and hopefully more clubs will do the same.
