Jimmy Bullard Sacked By Hull
« on: August 18, 2011, 02:35:34 pm »
BBC and Sky are reporting on Twitter that Jimmy Bullard is to have his contract terminated due to a pre-season incident during a training camp in Slovenia. It's just as well for Hull, as they've been trying to find a way to get rid of him since the moment they got relegated. Probably one of the worst contracts in recent memory signed by a recently promoted club, particularly considering he couldn't pass a medical at most of the clubs they tried to flog him off to. It will be interesting to see who picks him up.

Hull City prepare to terminate Jimmy Bullard's contract

 Thursday, 18 August 2011 13:20 UK

Hull City are preparing to bring Jimmy Bullard's stay at the KC Stadium to an end by arranging to terminate his contract, reports BBC Radio Humberside.

In a statement on the Tigers website, chief executive Mark Maguire says that they will be making no further comment.

"I can confirm that the club has given notice to terminate the contract of Jimmy Bullard," stated Maguire.

"He has a right of appeal. It would be inappropriate to make further comment that might prejudice this process."

Hull initially suspended midfielder Bullard over what BBC Radio Humberside understands was an alleged breach of club discipline on the club's pre-season tour of Slovenia in July.

The 32-year-old club record signing signed for Hull, then still a Premier League club, from Fulham for £5m in February 2009.

But the former Peterborough and Wigan player suffered a serious knee injury 37 minutes into his debut at West Ham.

He has made just 24 appearances for Hull in two and a half years, ending last season on loan at Ipswich.

And the Tigers have reportedly been trying to sell him because he is on a reported £50,000 a week.

He's a funny one. Doesn't seem that long ago that he was at Wigan and everyone was raving about him.

Like Bullard, always seems like a great character. If he was so injury prone, he would be a decent pick up for any low end Premier League team.

37 league appearances he had over three seasons at Fulham due to injury. That's two more than what he played in his last season at Wigan. And yet Hull still paid £5m for him and gave him £50,000 a week. Madness. Given his injury record, the only clubs I can think might be daft or desperate enough to take him on might be Blackburn, QPR or at a push Wigan.

Thank fuck Roy isn't still here, Bullard would be partnering Poulsen in midfield or keeping Cole company in the treatment room.

Remember when he had a great spell for Fulham scoring in most games, lasted about 10 games then got injured again.

Had a spell of around 18months a few years back where he demonstrated what "Jimmy Bullard" could be about.

Further to that he has proven to be unreliable due to injury and now.... his age.

Have no real emotive opinion about him, other than he was a good player when at his best - and clearly Hull are (quite rightly due to their circumstances) looking to offload him from their books. He did nothing wrong when accepting a huge offer to him when joining Hull and for the club it was a gamble that didn't pay off, but then any championship club being promoted has to roll the dice to try and stay in the premier league.

The Hull fans I know, hate him. He turned up one day at the training ground pissed, then he got in trouble out drinking while he was injured. Plus he put in half assed performances. Not bad for him, £9 million for 23 games.  ::)

Club Announcement Ref: Jimmy Bullard
Posted on: Thu 18 Aug 2011

I can confirm that the Club has given notice to terminate the contract of Jimmy Bullard. Mr Bullard has a right of appeal and it would be inappropriate to make any further comment at this time that might prejudice this process.

The Club will continue to focus on the development and performance of the squad going forward and is concentrated on efforts to deliver a positive season on and off the pitch for the Tigers.

We respect that there will be significant interest in this matter but will continue to act with professionalism and at all times in the best interests of the Club.

I think you can work out what he may have done if you dig deep enough, I'm sure it'll become clear in time.
I'm not normally one for making obscure posts, but let's just say he doesn't have a squeaky clean image in Hull and he was probably sacked with good reason.
