Palace are still bearable but I hate that gobshite Pardew. I would love to see his touchline meltdown.

I don't think we could ever hope for better than last season.

Down to 10 men, a dubious penalty right at the end to win it..

Very, very difficult game this. Really all about momentum.

If they get at you early, get the crowd behind them and start peppering your box with high balls to Benteke and fast runs down the wing then it's gonna end badly. If you can disrupt them early and cut them off then we should be good. It's the kinda game we've been bullied out of in the past, especially with Benteke up top.

If we win this then i'll accept we're in a title race, it's a huge test to overcome. Those difficult away games that get physical and fast

Palace have made a bit of a habit of putting us on a downer recently. First defeat under Klopp, Gerrard's last game at Anfield, and a couple of other obvious examples. Having said that Pulis had a good record against us and it didn't do him any good last week, I'd like to think we're a different proposition these days.

West Brom, West Ham and Bournmouth have all picked up points at Palace this season, the former two picking up wins. I hope we give it our all and if we do I think we'll have too much for them. Their pacey wingers and Benteke will be a threat but it's one where you want to put them and their fans on the back foot nice and early and have them chasing the game. Pardew the self loving gimp will love to beat us so hope Jurgen gets our lads all fired up. Come on Redmen, just win.

Keep a high line defensively and have most of the game in Palace's final third, if they try to go long to beat the press you can pressure the player going long
and focus on those 2nd balls and runners looking to get on the end of flick ons.

If Karius plays his natural game with his high starting position that should help if we do condense the pitch with him sweeping up.

Palace will be concerned about our attacking threats so Benteke should be pretty isolated as long as we don't let him bully us as he has in the past,
I think we're better equipped to deal with that currently.

Hopefully we start the game quickly and play our game from there.

My team would be as most expect the only real decision I see is Can or Wijnaldum in midfield, maybe Can for his physicality is the better option for this one?

Before we settle in to our fighting spirit with a no-defeat-mindset can I just say that this is a fucking tough game and if we lose we can analyse any poor performances but it won't be the end of the year, it won't be the end of of the season or indeed it won't be the end of the world. We've got the fucking best manager in the league, we've got him improving the players psyche until May and we've got him for at least another 10 transfer windows. Everything is fucking fine so don't be crying arses if the Saturday night plan doesn't work.

That said, I think there's only 1 possible starting 11, which is the cohort assembled and knitted nicely just before Can became available. That means we face a horrible Palace with a devastating tasty line-up and an ominously threatening bench. I can't see it being cagey either, it could be fucking bonkers with us winning 3-2, or even them winning 3-2. But whatever, enjoy it, we're on the march win lose or draw. Have a mad bet, 4-0 to us with Henderson getting the first goal, just really fucking enjoy Jurgen's Reds.

I think this is one of the hardest fixtures of the season. I don't need to go into detail about some of the torrid times we've endured against Palace, especially away from home. And the rare high point last season was in fact gift wrapped to us in the last minute. Home crowd well up for it, tight little ground under the lights, a former striker looking to prove a point...

If we win this I'll start to believe we have the credentials to mount a challenge for the title. That's how big a test of character I think this game represents.

Klopp will have done his analysis, but like he has said in a number of his pressers we won't worry to much about them (the opposition) and play our own game. I think palace will have more to worry about and wont be able to live with us.

It is the one result Klopp kept referring back to last season "Crystal fucking palace" as he said a number of times, i think that result really stuck in his craw and id say he will have the team fairly fired up to beat these and their crook of a manager.

Lets go boys, have a feeling were going to win this by 2 or 3!

Also, if Benteke does score you know it's going to be on a lone run in on goal.  How many of those did he miss last year?  15 or so?  Must of have been a record whatever the number was.
Raúl barely had a kick. The nearest he got to greatness was when he shook Gerrard by the hand.   Times - Mar 10,2009.

Suggestion Milner's been ill this week, but back in training. Hopefully good for a start, scoring a penalty, then off at 65 minutes with the game tied up if he's shot of energy

There is a spare seat next to me on the party bus.

You know if we lose we are at worst 3 points off the top and we play all the top sides again fella?

But overall I agree. Benteke, lobbing it long into the box, it feels like every three points we win feels like the "biggest three points we've won" - and this is no different. But like Killer Heels says, we're in this race already, beating Palace would just really ramp  it up into fifth gear, we're stiil on the road, and on course even if we draw or lose as well.

We've done quite well in stopping crosses and not giving away corners cheaply against Spurs, WBA, Chelsea and United. We should be okay against Palace, but still- we've got a game on our hands tomorrow..

Of course mate. I totally agree. But as you say about a game on tomorrow, no 3 points come easy. I like how Klopp said that teams are coming to "take our points". That's how we have to see it. We don't just turn up and win, we have to fight for every single point and gather as many as we can.

I think we can be in this race, the last time I even dreamt of this was when we beat Fulham and that was in the new year of 2014.

For my sins, I believe now, in October and I'm already looking at every game we play and every game anyone who can challenge us can play and cheering goals against them.

Maybe I'm one of those liverpool dickheads they talk about that says "this is our year" that the rest of the league laugh at, but I genuinely do believe this season.

No one is running away with it yet. I expected City to be miles clear but they aren't. So I'm looking for reasons "why not" and I'm struggling to find any...

Doubters to believers. Is right Jurgen. And maybe I end up resenting him for awakening a hope in me I had forgotten was in there if we suffer a few disappointing defeats in a row. But I would rather fly close to the sun and have my wings burn off than never try to get off the ground. That's what footie is all about isn't it? I've never and may never see us win it, but I would trade in all the bullshit seasons for a season where I think we have a chance and we have one now even if we aren't in January yet.

Let's focus on palace; let's focus on another 3 points and move onwards and upwards. Let's get on the runway, let's get ready for departure, let's fucking fly!

There is a space on the party bus. I'm on it. Benny of the Brighton supporters club is on it. Neil Atkinson is on it. Mike Nevin is on it. I reckon most importantly that Jurgen Klopp is on it as well.

Get on it. Houllier said 10 cup finals. Admittedly we have more like 28 cup finals but all the lads can do is take each game as it comes.

Bring on Palace, it's the biggest three points yet until next week

I'm generally a negative person and reluctant to dream  ;D

But for me tomorrow isn't just about these 3 points, it's about showing we can get our hands dirty and drag out 3 points at these tough aways where a crowd can be on your back and you're gonna get physically battered for 90 minutes. Kinda like we failed at Watford/Newcastle etc last season. For me this is the last "major test" we have to pass, we've shown we can beat the shit at home, we've shown we can beat the top sides, now we have to show we can fight at the tough aways where we've been bullied in the past

He won't score.
You should know as a Red that past players get that +3 bonus on their Str, Dex and Cons when playing us, fairly regularly.

That or they fail the saving throw, the goalkeeper plays like David freaking de Gea.
Someone should do the right thing - go back in time to 1992 and destroy the codes to Championship Manager before it is ever released

It's about getting the points here. Palace are one of the toughest aways to play IMO and we've caught them in a period where they've been a bit inconsistent, which can go bot ways. Win and we have a great deal of momentum. Moreover, this is probably the toughest fixture for the top teams alongside Chelsea going away to Southampton. The other teams have it relatively easy this weekend. I don't think City will falter against WBA. Which means a win is almost critical to keep our good run going. The next two games aren't the easiest either, but they aren't the worst. And beyond that, I think we've got a good run of games where I think we're traditionally strong against teams playing passing football, and we've got a couple of those games. The main point is that we're going through a series of fixtures that are all on the surface winnable and will create a fuckload of momentum, which adds its own strength. Key to that is to win these first three games, of which the away game at Palace is the first. Can't fucking wait to be honest.
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

Got me even more nervous now lad. I see this as a cup final myself as well in a way. I mean a draw isn't exactly game over by any stretch but a win really puts it down as that Evertonian would say as a "maaaaarker".

Presume you are there mate. For my sins I'm gonna be in London working selling virtual reality headsets at comic con at excel in custom house for the first half hour and I will be sprinting to the nearest pub as soon as it closes. Only 30 minutes from the ground as well. Alas :(

Hull, West Brom, Swansea, this is arguably harder than all three. Especially with Benteke upfront.

I'll say this every single week from now until we have no chance....

Please just fucking win this one red men!!

We'll annihilate them 4 - 3, last minute winner from Philip, assisted by Bob who got the ball Adam stole from the feet of the midfielder.
