Everton’s plans for £300m new stadium approved by Liverpool City Council

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/mar/31/everton-new-stadium-liverpool-city-council

Or, to be completely accurate, council to get £4.4m off Everton to act as a guarantor. The quotes are mildly amusing:

"We are not funding a billionaire. We are doing a great deal for Liverpool city council"

£176m over 40 years to give the thumbs up on cheap loans? Too right its a great deal.

"I don’t believe Everton will be relegated in the near future but, even if they were, we have the security of season ticket revenue, the TV deal, the value of players and the value of the club."

Dya reckon the council are crossing their fingers that they do get relegated so they can pick up the club on the cheap? A great deal indeed.

"They own the land at Bramley Moore and it’s up to them to put conditions in place that satisfy their shareholders and the club."

Well, they don't actually own the land, do they? They are leasing it.

http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/everton-shocked-dave-adams-quits-12824017

Everton's Academy staff have been left reeling after a second shock exit in the last 48 hours.

Dave Adams, who was appointed Head of Coaching only a week ago, has unexpectedly quit.

His departure quickly follows Everton's Academy Director, Dr Peter Vint, also walking out to "pursue other opportunities."

Dr Vint had endorsed the highly rated Adams' arrival from Swansea City.

Everton insist that Vint moving on is not related to his son, Will, joining Manchester United's youth ranks.

here is no explanation for Adams' sudden departure.

When the 37-year-old was unveiled last week he was described as "the standout choice from a list of more than 90 applicants."

It is now likely that club legend Joe Royle, Under-23 Head Coach David Unsworth, Director of Football Steve Walsh and the highly-respected Joel Waldron will combine to over see the Academy running until the end of the season.

Caught a bit of that premier league show on BBC2 last night, and it was about Liverpool v Everton. Talking about the new stadium say this is the real deal for them now and can push them onto the next level. I sat there thinking but they ain't actually purchase any land yet as they are still after funding.

Also Peter Reid must have been on the ale before the program as they were taking about can Everton attract World Class players without Champions League football and he turns round and say well they already bought schneiderlin  ;D I thought this the guy who couldn't get any game time at United and none of the top 4 came in for him when put up for sale.

Schneiderlin, world class  :lmao

Coleman is the only player that could arguably make our team, but there's a hair between him and Clyne. Clyne is better defensively, Coleman is better going forward. Lukaku is obviously a very good striker, but he wouldn't be able to play in a Jurgen Klopp team, where he'd be required to work hard off the ball. His lack of work-rate will be his undoing when he moves on to a big club. He's indulged at Everton because he's the only real quality they have. I'd have him on our bench, to bring on when we need a goal against the low-block teams.

That Baz idiot might as well have left Mane out too, since he obviously isn't concerned about coming across as deluded.

Whilst I agree Lukakus work rate can sometimes be questioned I disagree that he wouldnt be able to play in a Klopp team and the bit about you only having him on the bench, take off them red tinted glasses. Given the chance we and Klopp would love Lukaku to lead our line. He has it all and the main thing as a striker is putting the ball in the back of the net and he's better than any of our players at doing that.

Just look at these ridiculous stats;

Lukaku club goals before age of 23 vs selected others

Ronaldo – 194
Raul – 145
Lionel Messi – 127
Sergio Aguero – 124
*Romelu Lukaku (with two months remaining) – 119*
Michael Owen – 111
Cristiano Ronaldo – 97
Fernando Torres – 87
Wayne Rooney – 94
Luis Suarez – 77
David Villa – 70
Zlatan Ibrahimovic – 69
Alan Shearer – 65
Thierry Henry – 57

The guy is a goal scoring machine and still only 23.

in terms of cost almost certainly yes, if the city gets the commonwealth games then the ev get out of paying for a huge amount of it. But currently they make less than £20m from gate revenues, so how do they expect to at the minimum cover the payments and break even, never mind spend more on the team so they can attract people to go to the poo pulpit, especially as those payday loans against the tv money seem to hint at them getting first dibs on the tv money which would cover that

From the echo...

There will be fewm!
http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/everton-boss-ronald-koeman-labelled-12829503
Quote
Ireland boss Martin O’Neill has launched an astonishing riposte to Ronald Koeman labelling the “master tactician of the blame game.”

O’Neill has tonight issued a strongly worded statement in response to the Everton blaming him for his role in James McCarthy’s latest injury set-back.

McCarthy was selected to start for the Republic of Ireland against Wales last Friday, despite missing the previous two Blues games, but was injured in the warm-up.

Koeman, reading from pre-prepared notes at this press conference today, was critical of McCarthy but insists O’Neill failed to protect the 26-year-old.

But the club versus country row has escalated further this evening following O’Neill’s statement in which he questioned Everton’s pre-season programme and suggested that it was Koeman who is guilty of “overloading” McCarthy and not him.

“Once again the Everton manager, master tactician of the blame game, has struck out in his comments today, criticising both myself and James McCarthy,” O’Neill said.

“Perhaps a review of Everton’s pre-season programme might provide some enlightenment.

“James had a magnificent tournament for the Republic of Ireland last summer during UEFA EURO 2016, playing his last game in very late June. He then returned to Everton after a very short break, but only 11 days later, he played his first of three games, all within an eight-day period, against Real Betis, Manchester United and Espanyol. Overloading?

“It should be added that James last played for his country on the October 9, 2016 - almost half a year ago. Since that time he has been totally under Everton’s supervision.

“James is diligent and conscientious in his professional preparation.

“Perhaps, in this instance, quiet introspection may serve the Everton manager and his medical staff better.”

McCarthy will miss tomorrow’s derby at Anfield due to injury.

I'll be honest, I can't make my mind up about Koeman as a person at all. He is a good coach and don't want to say much, just in case like. But he doesn't have a personality that fans take too somehow, except Didi Hamann obviously. My brother can't stand him for the way he left Soton. He just seems to be one of those people who doesn't stay long anywhere.

This is the problem with the modern football fan.

Who really gives a flying a about a managers personality. Whisky Nose was a c*nt, Clough nuts and Revie - well enough said. Rent a quote Arry was loved by loads and won fuck all, Dalglish was considered dour but loved by the Kop.

Personality only comes into it when you see a funny or a spark of inspiration, after that it means jack shit if you dont get the points in the bag.

Claudio and Slaven Bilic are clear examples of this.

If Koeman is a boring twat then the bitters will lap it up, if and when the eventually beat us. FFS Basil Brush could be in charge and they wouldn't care......BOOM BOOM

That was true.  :o

It made me smile listening to Klopp's PC today. It was great to see him actually praise the BS, that is really going to piss of their fans. I remember when Rafa said they were a "small club" just how motivated and delighted they were at being offended that time. But Jurgen of course gives them no such chance, and gushes away at them. They'll be well non-plussed at that. Good tactic Jurgen.  8)

I'm going to give Everton and Koeman this one.  O'Neill is being O'Neill and seeking to deflect attention from himself.  The man's a complete and utter wanker.  Trying to pin a player's injury on a pre season that is now pushing 8 months ago is nothing short of fucking desperate.
I don't always visit Lobster Pot.  But when I do. I sit.

Poor Baz. A bit of bias is fine. We all indulge in that, don't we. It's the one's who genuinely believe the delusion that I feel a bit sorry for.

If I was picking a best PL XI I'd consider Mane for the bench and possibly Clyne as right back but I doubt my red coloured specs would go beyond that. I suppose that is the test we put in front ourselves when we assess how these bods see the world.
