I do love seeing some Test cricket from NZ late of an evening. Sadly missed all the wickets too. How many Tests in the series and who's expected to win that?

3 Test series. Sth Africa would be favourites, usually are against us

If he's doing it as accused it's bad. As it is it's a an admitted moment of stupidity thats being opportunistically jumped on. But if he's not doing it systematically then it's also very bad from Kohli.

I really have little interest in it, especially because it's regarding the DRS. It's been a good series despite the on field antics which over recent years has been disgraceful between the countries. This is just more of the pettiness that is par for the course between us.
Agree with this. I'd have laughed it off (especially after the Test Match was won!). Kohli's accusation is a serious one and the cameras are on the players all the time, so apart from this incident, I haven't really seen the Aussies doing this.

The umpire has the power to deny the review anyway and they're always keeping a watch on the captain/players before going upstairs.

Michael Clarke made a good point that unless this was discussed earlier in some player group, a new player such as Handscomb wouldn't be reminding the captain to look at the dressing room. It's dodgy as fuck if you ask me. But it's also next to impossible to monitor when a team is fielding IMO. Nothing to stop a fielder in the deep to get a quick signal from the dressing room and then convey it to the keeper or slips fieldsman who then reviews it.

Did he "remind" him or did he just tell him to?

Look I'm not saying he wasn't doing it because like everyone, including the people making claims, I have no proof either way. We know he did it once. He admitted it was wrong.

Is it not possible that a new player like Handscomb, who has played only a handful of matches with DRS genuinely didn't know he couldn't look at the box?

Theres a lot of "ooooh I dunno, just feels dodgy to me" and people making leaps to get to the convenient position where they can believe Australia were systematically cheating.

Personally, I think Handscomb didn't know you can't do it (I didn't). He told Smith to do it and whether Smith actually knew it was against the laws or not, I think he was absolutely bricking it at the time thinking the game was slipping away and he decided Handscomb had a good idea.

Smith shouldn't have said Handscomb told him to do it. Poor kid!

I agree with the above post. It was a desperate situation, Smith lost his head a little and looked up, nothing came of it, end of story. Sadly this is only going to increase some of the pointless aggression on the field.

I'm agnostic about the whole thing. I think we're unlikely to find out the truth until many decades later when someone writes an autobiography about it. I just thought it was interesting what Michael Clarke said about the whole thing.

It is possible that the Australian version of events is true, but Kohli said outright that he complained about the Australians doing this more than once on the field, which is why he latched onto them doing this as soon as he did and the same for the umpires. Now that could be true as well. My point is that we'll simply not know about whether Kohli's accusations are true since the ICC has obviously brushed this under the carpet and it is impossible to keep a tracker on each fielder when an appeal is made.

NZ v SA started. Don't recognise many names in the NZ batting line up. The ones I do know have gone, Rabada got Williamson in his first over,  he looks such a class act.

Australia started pretty well in the 3rd test at Ranchi.

Australia 216/4 (68 ov)

Smith 87 not out. His average is in excess of 60 now.

Good win for Bangers over Sri Lanka,  chased down 191 to win by 4 wickets.

India have batted well against Australia to give themselves a sniff of winning the series on the final day. Only two results possible now you'd think.

Is this Bangers first away test victory?

Caught the end of this. Sri Lanka were probably 50 runs or so short of making a really interesting game. Bangladesh were really feeling the pressure towards the end and I'm glad they dug in and got the victory. They aren't at South Africa levels of choking but they've lost a fair number of games that they should have won.

Won't nearly get the credit it deserves, but it's really one of the great Test catches imo. Had no right to be catching it.

Probably called dead ball a few years ago, until the rule change about movement before the batsman strikes the ball. Really clever to read the intention then all about reflexes.

That's true. Disappointing to lose from one up but a creditable performance.  Smith has gone from strength to strength with is batting and they've unearthed a couple of decent youngsters so not a bad tour for them.

According to Brad Hodge (coach of the Gujarat Lions) he has skipped it to be available for the opening match of the IPL.

The official line is shoulder injury.

He strained his shoulder in last test while fielding and hence out of this test.

Yeah, 'cause Kohli really needs the money from playing the IPL opener  ::)

Good win for India, fairly good series overall even though some of the handbags were a bit too much for my liking.
