45 years this week since he signed for LFC and as noted above Kevin Keegan was perhaps the catalyst for the glory years that soon followed.

Having seen him play at Anfield I'd agree with that comment although I'm not sure history has been as kind as it should have been to KK

1. Gave everything in every game, totally committed to the team
2. Provided an energy to Anfield which took it beyond that great 60's team
3. helped take us from one of the best few sides to worthy Champions of Europe
4. He was personally ambitious but played it straight that he wanted to go to Hamburg a year before he left (as I understood it we payed him £12k a year, Hamburg £250k)
5. He was his own man but gave everything he could to whoever employed him
6. Allowed us to replace him with Kenny Dalglish and a profit
7. Hated Siralex

Of his time in Liverpool, Keegan later said, "The only thing I fear is missing an open goal in front of the Kop. I would die if that were to happen. When they start singing 'You'll Never Walk Alone' my eyes start to water. There have been times when I've actually been crying while I've been playing
