Anfield Road Lower - How is the view?
« on: March 30, 2007, 02:22:52 pm »
It will be my first time sitting in Anny Road at the Middlesborough game. Me and my friend are in block 124 in Anfield Road, and in row 24. I have read a few people saying that it is a pretty crap view as you get towards the back of the lower tier, so does anyone know what it will be like in row 24?

I know in is in and all that, but I am just interested to know!

Cheers :)

I was there when we played Bolton and had 2 horrible Bolton fans sat next to me in our end.

Yeah, view's good. IIRC, you're on the same row (or the one just in front) as the upper tier supports, so there's no chance of them blocking anything either.

USUALLY they do but because they haven't taken their full allocation for this game away fans will only be in blocks 121,122,123

it'll be all LFC fans in 124

Middlesborough, midweek game, lots of day trippers there. Thats maybe why he typed 'ha ha' in response to you saying you were hoping for a cracking atmosphere because it is likely it wont be, I could be wrong though.

I'd imagine fewer day trippers to be honest for an evening kickoff - starting a long journey home at 10pm won't appeal to some. But yeah, it's still likely to be a bit flat.

I have read a few people saying that it is a pretty crap view as you get towards the back of the lower tier, so does anyone know what it will be like in row 24?

Someone had to do it...

From the Anfield Road, if you look directly ahead, you will see a large green thing.

This will be interrupted by eerie white lines, obviously painted on as an afterthought.

Furthermore, there will be rectangular wooden objects, 1 immediately in front of you, and a similar one approximately 100 yards due south of you.  These are called goalposts.  Nets are hanging from the goalposts.

When the teams take the pitch (the green thing), the object is for the team to put the ball (a round thing, roughly 1 foot in diameter), into the net hanging from these goalposts.  If the correct team does this, do not be alarmed if people nearby jump up, and may (occasionally... but unlikely against Middlesborough) shout loudly.

This, my dear friend, is what you can see from the fabled Anfield Road end.

Is it advisable to take binoculars to see this "round thing" you are talking about?

Well in mate.

Binoculars can be valuable.

Particularly if a guy called Riise plays.  Oftentimes when he smotes the round thing, it goes bloody quick..  and requires visual aids to catch the bugger disappearing into the Kop.  (Thats the area where people watch, right opposite to where you are, at the Anfield Road end).

I'm normally in Row 20 & the view is sound.  I've got Row 32 for the Manc Shite, so let me know if it's at the back or not..........I've been back row before (few seasons back) & it's not that bad!

Isn't there 36 rows? If so, from about 30/32 upwards, it's restricted. I've been towards the back loads. Was near the back for Birmingham this season. Couldn't see The Kop, but could see the game well.
