When i can get a ticket for the game i don't catch the buses that stop outside the ground, i either catch the 14/14A to the Oakfield, or 19/19A to any stop from halfway down Breckfield Road but on the way back i catch the 14/14A by the Supporters Club. 14/14A will be the best ones & even on a Sunday being more frequent.

If your using the train on Sunday be warned, James Street is closed, & Wirral Line trains will stop at Lime Street & Central, Northern Line trains will only stop at Moorfields. http://www.merseytravel.gov.uk/articleimages/Changes%20to%20Northern%20and%20Wirral%20Line%20trains%20on%2026%20and%2027%20August%20%202012.pdf

Cross-River Routes 423, 432, 433, 437, 471, 472, 487 and 488 are diverted to start and finish at Liverpool ONE
Bus Station. Buses will be running to temporary timetables.
Route 1 Chester-Liverpool is diverted to start and finish at Liverpool ONE Bus Station.

17 to Kirkby
Use bus stop C on Lime Street. Buses to the city centre will finish at Lime Street outside Lime Street station.

14, 14A to Croxteth and Kirkby
Use bus stop C on Lime Street. Buses to the city centre will finish at Lime Street outside Lime Street station.

19, 19A, 244 to Kirkby
Use bus stop C on Lime Street. Buses to the city centre will finish at Lime Street outside Lime Street station.

Do these all go up to Anfield anyone? Thanks for the info Richie.

The buses are only affected in Liverpool City Centre.

Outside of the city centre they will be the usual Sunday service, and in some cases on certain routes, an enhanced service to cover the extra foot traffic to and from the Mathew Street festival.

Here, have a read.

Closest bus stop to Lime Street?

Although I'll probably walk it if the weather's anything decent.

Have you actually read ANY of this thread before asking?

Here's a task for you. You might find it a bit difficult at first, but bear with me, and we'll get there.

Starting at your post I've quoted. You know, the one just above this.

Well start there, and go one post above that. You know, the one I've posted before you.

Then click on the BIG RED LINE OF TEXT, about an inch and a half up.  And 'Hey presto',  it gives all of the information you're likely to need to find your arse from your elbow on Sunday.

Hope that helps. Have a nice day.  :wave

Cheers though.

You're welcome.  ;)

Just one question.

Are the bus stops clearly marked on Lime Street as A,B,C etc?

Is this extra or included in the bus fare?

Came out of Lime Street yesterday and for the first time had planned on getting a bus to the ground.

Conveniantly there was two 917 bus' waiting. That shall be my routine from now on.

anyone know if the 17, 26 or any other buses are allowed to drive pass the stadium (Walton Breck Road) DURING the match?

Yes, They are normal services buses not match buses and hence run to their timetables. Not quite sure why you'd think they wouldn't but rest assured.

The police stop the traffic after the game for 15-20 mins until the crowd disperse. I sat on the 26 after the city game until the police re-opened the road.

The question was, do the buses run DURING the match, not about delays afterwards.

Like the other 40,000 I prefer to watch the game rather than the buses!

That No.19 is not very relient. It's always late. It's engine is always stuttering and missfiring, and if it was me, i'd either get it serviced or trade it in for a new model.
More often refered to as That big 19C*

That No.14 is quite a new model, and still has that fresh smell, although I'd expect to drive it a bit harder now it's been broken in for it's first year and has a few miles on the clock.

Be warned if your planning to use the Wirral Line on Sunday as there will be no Trains on the Loop, & replacement buses will operate instead
<<<On Sunday 23 September, buses will replace trains between:

West Kirby and Liverpool Central;

Birkenhead North and Liverpool Central on the New Brighton line

Birkenhead Central and Liverpool Central on the Chester and Ellesmere Port lines.
