Inter playing some lovely stuff here.

Alvarez and Wes linking like they've been playing for years together.

Milan's midfield is so turgid. Unless they get a player in the mold of Montolivo or Aquilani, i can't see 'em doing much in the CL again.

Wasn't Alvarez meant to be going to arsenal before inter snapped him up. Think arsene missed a trick there, he looks really good at the moment.

Very poor second half by Inter. They could've used the experience of Cambiasso and Lucio to close the game out when we were in the lead. Sniejder was class was again, hopefully its not his last game and young Obi impressed as well.

Eto’o to Anzhi ‘practically agreed’ Source: http://www.football-italia.net/aug10d.html

Quote
Samuel Eto’o is seriously considering a move from Inter to Anzhi Makhachkala, his representative has confirmed.

Speaking with Russian website Sports.ru, Claudio Vigorelli confirmed the expectation that the striker would be sold.

“We have practically reached an agreement with Anzhi,” Vigorelli noted. “Hopefully, the clubs will now also agree between themselves. “Did Predrag Mijatovic represent Anzhi? Predrag is a friend of Samuel and Anzhi director German Chistyakov, therefore he was present during the negotiations.”

It is being claimed that the Russian outfit have made Inter an offer of between €30m and €40m for the Cameroon star. It is also being suggested that the player himself will net a massive €17m a season while with Anzhi Makhachkala.

“Unfortunately, the media have been reporting false figures in relation to Samuel’s contract,” insisted Vigorelli. “But I will repeat, we have practically agreed things with Anzhi.”

Inter confirmed yesterday, through transfer chief Marco Branca and owner Massimo Moratti, that they are considering the sale of Eto’o. The Italian media are already speculating that the Nerazzurri will target Carlos Tevez of Manchester City once Eto’o departs.

Some positive stuff coming from Juve, appearantly Galatasaray want Amauri.

There was also some kind of interview with Pessotto (head of youth department), dunno when it was but my mate sent this to me (might be from a much longer interview)

Quote
"The President gave us specific instructions. He wants us to invest a lot in the youth department. It's a long term plan but we are working on it because. Italian football needs youngsters to be competitive in Europe. Everybody is working towards this target: the FIGC, Sacchi and us.Abroad they are doing better than us.We need to be humble like we were before&then we will see the results in the future

Juve are doing alot of good work in the transfer market, not just bringing players in but releasing and selling off alot of the deadwood that were not really good enough for a big club. Tiago, Felipe Melo, Salihamdzic, Rinaudo, Sissoko and now Amauri are off, which will save alot on wages this year. The only way is up for Juve this season, I'm expecting big things.

What I think will be the most important part is Conte's vision for a team. Ciro Ferrara for all his qualities and experiences lacked a certain edge and was less then brilliant tactically speaking. Delneri suffered from what my grandmother calls "you can't paint a horse and call it a zebra". He didn't have the squad for a 4-4-2 so he tried to make one.

I think that won't be the problem with Conte. He might not be Arrigo Sachi but he's got an intuition for the game and won't make the same stubborn mistakes Delneri did. Like Bonucci's inability to adapt. He was intimitaded by Chiellini and never allowed to play his own game that earned him the transfer. Bonucci will benefit massively from the likes of Pirlo and Vidal dropping deep and allowing him to either play a short game or push up himself. Lichsteiner will bring something new to the team and hopefully Ziegler will make an impact too. Juve's midfielders will also benefit Krasic as he'll be able to stay further up the pitch instead of having to drop sometimes into his own half to be able to make a run forward. And like I said earlier. First and foremost he's building a team, not too far from what Liverpool are doing. Here's someone who knows the club, how it works what the fans want, the importance of wanting to do well for the club, someone who's only experience is winning and wants to keep that going. Long gone are the wasteful signings of mercanaries (€50m for Melo and Amauri :butt :butt :butt) and team players are brought in.

I don't think they'll win it this season, there's just too big a gap in quality right now and the squad would need to blend together perfectly in virtually no time. But if the Milan teams hit a bad run of form, coupled with key players injured/suspended they might* nick it.

*might is actually blind faith and ignorant hope

Aristotle I take it your a Juventus fan then. Good post and I agree with what you said, too many times last season Del Neri tried to manufacture players into new positions i.e Marchisio into a left wing role. He was too stubborn to change things and that has been a reason why his been successful with the smaller clubs but no so much with the likes of Roma and Juventus. I still don't know about Conte, he had a great debut season with Bari winning promotion to Serie A with ease, then his next season with Atalanta was a disaster as he was sacked in January when they were 19th - so his stock diminished alot in my book. Again last season he showed his credentials in Serie B by achieving promotion with Siena, but this Juventus job is a whole different kettle of fish. I guess we will have to judge in a couple of months as he has shown promise.

Just saw that ex-Italy coach Roberto Donadoni has been sacked as manager of Cagliari. Suazo has also rejected them for Catania recently as well, not all is well in Sardinia at the moment.

Apparently Eto'o is to undergo his Anzhi medical on Thursday.

Quote
Samuel Eto'o looks to be one step closer to the Inter exit doors as the Cameroon international will undergo his Anzhi Makhachkala medical in Rome on Thursday, Italian press agency ANSA reports.

The striker was initially expected to undergo his physical tests with Anzhi on Monday, but he will now travel to Rome later this week after his medical was rescheduled. Eto'o didn't take part in Inter's training session on Monday and left the club's grounds before their annual open day kicked off.

Inter are ready to sell the 30-year-old striker and have allegedly agreed to a transfer of 35 million euros for Eto'o. The striker is expected to sign a four-year deal worth 80 million euros with Anzhi Makhachkala.

Eto'o joined Inter from Barcelona in the summer of 2009 and helped the Giuseppe Meazza club to a historic treble in his first season at the club.

Feels very much like an economic thing. Inter will never, ever get €35m for a 30 year old again and they seem to be pushing to the extreme to meet FFP

Somehow missed this despite quoting the post below it :o

Yeah I'm a Juve supporter. Or at the very least make an honest effort :D What I think will get Conte a long way with Juve is that he basically doesn't know how to do badly with Juventus. He played there for 12 seasons and only twice did they end outside the top 2. They won the league 5 times, came 2nd 5(6?) times as well. He played in 3 consecutive CL finals. He captained the team before being "demoted" to vice captain when Del Piero took the armband. And I think the fact that Buffon and Del Piero know and respect him will get him a long way. The Italian players all know him and what he did for Juventus. So apart from appealing to the Icons of the club, Buffon and Del Piero the new generation respect him as well. And having grown up witnessing him win it all Marchisio, Chiellini et al will also pull in his favour. And let's not forget that fans, who will much easier forgive a mistake from a club legend in the process of rebuilding than an old fart like Delneri who seemed hellbent on changing the club instead of himself.

So in essence he's already won over the dressing room by default, helped in no part getting rid of the likes of Melo and (hopefully) Amauri. And the players that have been bought have strengthened the squad. Leadership and a winning mentality from Pirlo. Physicality and determination from the likes of Lichsteiner and Vidal. As well as creativity and goals in Matri and Vucinic to lighten the burden up top.

My only concern is his lack of tactical nouse. For all the good he brings, he is a bit tactically naive, if only by inexperience. And I'm hoping he'll be able to see his short comings and bring someone in to cover that basis. Much like Kenny did when he brought in Steve Clarke
