This is what the ITV Goal Line technology showed.

And when zoomed in, looks like.....

It's so close it still even difficult to call. I would say though, that the attacking team should be given the benefit of the doubt though in these situations.

Let it go  it wasn't in. A great save.

Agreed. We didn't lose because, we lost because of the first 60 minutes in which we were a disgrace.

Ok, redone it slightly :) Not good at photoshop, as you can probably tell.

Don't need a DM for next season, Lucas should be back and Spearing is his backup. If we were 2 get a DM then he'll have 2 be a backup and happy on the bench more often than on the pitch.

Wow. We've just seen what happens when Spearing steps in for Lucas, and you're happy with that?!

What an unprofessional, classless c*nt.

Hope we beat them good style midweek and Bayern tear them a new one.

Cech was the difference today.  Whether the ball crossed the line was ultimately immaterial, he got across and either a) pulled off an amazing save or b) made the decision impossible for the officials to give.  :(

It wasn't a goal - the ref said so.

Forget it, the match is over.  We lost.

I think even with goal-line technology and 5 replays, they wouldn't have seen enough to give it as a goal. Unless they can completely prove it was in, then they wouldn't give it.

Our central midfield and first half attitude had far more to do with the defeat than that one call anyway.

They'd use hawkeye for goal line technology not instant replays.

That's because the camera is not in line. For guidance don't look at the posts, look at the goal-line and the ball is over. But it doesn't matter as I don't feel we really deserved it. Wholesale changes to be made and some undeserving individuals shipped out and replaced properly- also wouldnt be surprised at all to see the King step down but that's for another thread.

How are you going to do that!? You should be able to look the goal line just below the ball and that is impossible. You can't look the goal line next to the ball (in the picture) because in the real life those points are several meters away from each other and because of the camera angle that goal line isn't vertical.

ship a couple of these players out too. the likes of downing and henderson have done nothing all season to convince me they should be in this team.

still not entirely convinced on andy carol iether.

Hendo is still a kid he can't be judged yet until end of next season at least.  Carroll doesn't play as much as downing or Hendo so he can't be judged either and of late his form has been excellent, link up play with the attacking mids and wingers has worked well.

Downing i'm still 50/50. He was overpriced but i'd still give him another season in a red shirt 2 show he's worth. He'll only get better with more experience and understanding of this team.

There were a lot of changes pre season 2 our squad and a different gamestyle we tried 2 implement, so this season was more transitional rather than being judged out.
End of next season we'll have more of an understanding but Lucas is the missing link in our team and with him back he'll be worth 2 players
We all bleed RED!!

HIndsight is a wonderful thing but our midfield were shit. Totally overran.

No no no no no no no no...

Because of the camera angle you can't use the goal line for the comparison. It isn't vertical because of the angle. If you want to make a comparison you have to use back post!

It was in.

All season Andy Carroll has headed the ball at the near post and almost always high. Goes back across the goal here (or on many other occasions, or down on many others) the ball is unsaveable. I honestly think his finishing is poor (taken across the season) at what he is supposed to be good at, and I don't quite understand why he always chooses that option—think he would have a good 4 or 5 more goals if he did, or even more. It would seem a simple bit of coaching to tell him "always go back across the goalie so he's moving the wrong way, and always head it down so he has a hard time following it." I was never very good at actually executing it, but Carroll is, or should be, and that was very basic, no?

Fucking gutted...The only positive i can take from this game is Carroll and our late revival despite it ultimately not being enough.

Two horrendous mistakes and we were exposed, looked like it really was anfield south considering how bad we were for 60 mins. Going to be a long summer but we need to learn form our mistakes and push on..

It the first half Chelsea seemed to pressure us and pressed high denying us space to play, in the second half they tired dropped much deeper giving us more time and space to attack. I can't help feeling that this game was there for the taking and we let it slip away. Carol had a good game he showed a willingness to win, a bit disappointed by Gerrard he had a poor game for a final. As to those complaining about the goal line decision we did not do enough to win this game so lets not use that as an excuse.
making a c*nting mess of a list, like c*nts on a bike trying to win the Tour de France...
