The day they do anything to the bogs in the Jac is a sad one. I haven't actually been in since the refurb, I think I'm scared to.

As long as they haven't touched the basement, I could probably just about live with it. The open mic on a Thursday down there is one of the great nights in town, it's like a big family there. Haven't been in ages though as I rarely go out weeknights now. I trust it's still going strong?

Yeah its still going on haven't been there on a Thursday in a while either, I think they're doing a room at a time cause when we were upstairs on Saturday the walls were stripped and new benches had been put in place so would imagine once its done they've going to move on to the basement.

I don't understand why they're doing it, it'll become just another faceless bar. Not like they were short of business as well cos it's always busy.

Our footy team (14 of us - all in our 30s) are coming up to Liverpool the weekend of the Spurs match, that also happens to be cup final day.

We enjoy the footy and a good crack, nothing too excessive and certainly not contemplating trouble, would the pubs already mentioned earlier in this thread be ideal for the footy that weekend?? Apart from Anfield of course  ;)

We are obviously aware that we would have to go to certain places in smaller groups but anywhere where we could watch the cup final/other fixtures  in a lively but light hearted atmosphere would be good. Cheers

Went in the Jac the other day and its been refurbished, repainted and padded seats instead of the wooden benches. They've taken down all the photos as well but I think it might just be because they were painting and haven't been able to put them back up yet, the place would deffo lose its charm if they didn't put them back up, there's a DJ in there now as well which annoyed us as I was one of a few places me and mates could sit down with a bevvie and talk with out having to shout over the music.
Guinness was £1.70 a pint in Jacaranda until they put it up to £3 just before crimbo. Fuck that.

Just reminded me of when we came back from Ireland, we were paying 4-5 Euros a pint of Guinness, off the plane, straight to the Jac, £1.70 a pint, now that's what I call a Guinness!  :lickin

Any decent pubs the botton end of London Road or therabout ? Or is that an oxymoron ? Meeting someone and was thinking of having a few slurps while I am there and I can't be arsed walking to Slater St etc., especially as most of the bars there are fuckin robbers.

awww fuck that, a DJ? i used to love the jukebox in there and as you said it was a great place for a chat with your mates and any randoms ya meet along the way

they surely couldnt be foolish enough not to put up the paintings/memorabelia again can they? that added so much character to the place...it just looks like the shipping forecast or anywhere else on seel st otherwise

So...the wife and I will be in Liverpool in October and it looks like we will be staying at the Novatel on Hanover Street. While searching google for some decent "ROCK" music pubs, the only one I could find was K1 at Krazyhouse, and basically just wanted some info on the place from anyone who has been there. Also is there any other "rock music" based pubs in Liverpool, the sort of place that plays Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden and others of that ilk.....and if they have live bands all the better...love seeing live bands!!

Avoid the Walkabout at all costs, its full of scallies and troublemakers!

As said, the Swan is pretty decent, and as your in the area, try Pogue Mahones for a nice guiness. Its not a rock music type of pub, but still worth having one in.

Okay so i'm going up to Liverpool for the third time for a night out next saturday before the Spurs game. So far the previous two times we've been to the same places. O'Neils, Slug and Lettuce, Cavern Club, Krazyhouse, Funkybox and a few little bars that I dont remember the names of. Both have been decent nights but it feels like i'm missing out on loads. Wanna go to different places this time so what's everyones suggestions? I'm 19, like House music, not really a fan of the pub scene unless its at the begininng of the night to top up alcohol levels. Want to end the night in a decent club (we've ended up at Krazyhouse the other two times, which was good but feels like it can be topped). Mates have suggested concert square but it looks shite from what we saw the last two times. Although it was only for a minute or two and I was hammered so willing to change my opinion if people reckon its worth a go.
