Any reason this is a 12pm kick off? I thought if the game wasn't on sky it had to kick off at the same time as one of the other Sunday games?

It was originally a 12.45pm Saturday kick off on BT Sport but got moved due to us progressing in Europe. Pretty sure it would have been 4pm otherwise.

Cant see us starting too many Thursday night's team tomorrow even though we are still prioritizing the league ;) Sure ....good chance to see how the youngsters do and maybe even one or two may play themselves into the starting 11 / bench Thursday.

.............Ward
Flanno  Skrtel  Lucas...Smith
......Stewart...Allen
Ojo.....................Ibe
........Tex
.............Benteke

No way will Klopp play our only 2 fit central midfielders together for this game.  If both got injured it would leave us with no central midfielders at all for Thursday.  I know Milner can play there but he's not a CM really. Allen might play in this,  but Lucas is not long back from injury so highly doubt he'd play another game so soon after Villareal.

The whole team selection will be really difficult for Klopp given injuries,  tiredness and the game on Thursday.
Rossiter absolutely bossed it tonight. Really believe he'll end up playing more games this season than Lucas.

Henderson won't make it here. Sorry but he won't and won't

Looking forward to tomorrow's game from a personal level. I've been commentating on Swansea City home matches for the last few years with a local voluntary radio station, so being able to commentate on our games happens only once a season. As much as i'd like to see the stars come out to play, i'm more excited to see the future of our club get another chance to impress and leave the big boys for Thursday.

We commentate live to our station (Radio City 1386AM) but also offer a service to fans within the stadium for the visually impaired with headsets from the Disability Stewards. If you, or anyone you know requires this, don't hesitate to ask.

And I promise to offset the biased commentators next to me with complete and utter professionalism  ;)

Don't mind me. Just waiting for that second leg vs. Villarreal here We shouldn't take any risk with players who will be playing Thursday - goes without saying.

I think Klopp will pick pretty much a U21 side but will go for experience with the strikers.

I would just let Benteke start on his own and get some game time, and maybe give Sturridge 25 mins at the end. Thursday is going to be intensive as we need to throw a lot at them. Keep everyone who is going to start on Thursday away from this game.

Use the game to find good substitutes for Thursday. Maybe someone from the fringe players will have a blinder.

Thinking it might be Bogdan-Illori at CB, fresh legs fresh minds the man said. Surely the Bogger has a game in him, ya its not his position but look at all the money we pay him. It's true, i'm sure klopps looking at lucas-stewart as the obvious choice pairing, but putting in # 34 is the kind of bold tactic that most lesser tacticians would never even consider.

There was even a rumour he might try skrtl in there but it seems pretty far fetched, really.

Notwithstanding, nothing but a win will do. An impressive win. Without even trying very much. Thats the ticket.

I would like to see Skrtel and Caulker as the CBs (is caulker available for selection ?).

Benteke as a lone striker supported by Ibe and Ojo

                                            Ward
                   Flanagan    Skrtel   Caulker    Smith
                                    Allen     Stewart
                                            Milner
                     Ojo                                   Ibe

hopefully Benteke gets some more minutes and Sturridge is saved for thursday

Any chance of Flanno and Smith playing?

Just read the article on flanno in the official site about managing his game time. Now is a good time to start if he is fit enough. Important game in the midweek and we need all the first teamers rested and fired up

No Kolo, Allen, Milner, Moreno or Firmino in the squad. Rested for Thursday. Flanagan not selected, still recovering fitness.

I reckon Ward; Clyne, Skrtel, Caulker, Smith; Ojo, Lucas, Stewart, Ibe; Benteke, Sturridge

I don't think it's that, it's that Thursday is so big that today's game is pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

Daniel Sturridge is in the Liverpool squad for Sunday's Premier League clash with Swansea City – but Jurgen Klopp has left a host of key players behind.

The Reds striker is expected to feature at the Liberty Stadium after being overlooked for Thursday night's Europa League semi-final first leg away to Villarreal.

However, Roberto Firmino, Joe Allen, James Milner, Alberto Moreno and Kolo Toure have all been spared the trip to South Wales with one eye on next Thursday's second leg at Anfield.

The rest of those players who were involved at El Madrigal have travelled to Swansea, including Philippe Coutinho, who has recovered from the sickness bug which forced him off at half-time.

Klopp will field a much changed side with the likes of Martin Skrtel, Connor Randall, Brad Smith, Kevin Stewart, Danny Ward, Cameron Brannagan, Joao Carlos Teixeira, Pedro Chirivella and Sheyi Ojo all in contention.

However, there is no place in the Liverpool squad for Jon Flanagan.

Sturridge will start on Thursday. Not playing for 11 days (which is what it would be by Thursday if he didn't play today) doesn't do anyone any favours.

We still need to try and finish as high as possible in the league. Can take it to within a point of 5th, all on the same games if United lose today, and 5th would be MUCH more preferable than having to qualify early in pre-season (purely on the very long odds that we don't win the Europa obviously)
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Sturridge hasn't played since last week so not surprised he's getting some minutes. Don't think it'd be too much too ask him to play today and Thursday, quite looking forward to seeing how him and Coutinho link up with Ojo. Bit surprised Teixeria made the bench given he's supposed to be off in the summer;

Matters off the field during the week have certainly contributed to the general apathy to the onfield ones. Still very raw for a lot of people I'm sure.
