Nervy, tense game as most of us expected I think. A few heart stopping moments at the back and a chance that Joe Allen simply has to score. That miss aside we've struggled to create good chances. Sturridge soon please.

Firmino having one of his games where very little goes right for him. He's constantly dropping wide or deep meaning we're without a forward most of the time. Rest of the game is going how you'd imagine. Need to get Sturridge on if we want to score.

Created some good chances, had some good bounces... Just haven't been able to finish it.
Not sure of blaming that on their minds being elsewhere, though, as it hasn't exactly been an uncommon pattern for us.

Still, we've held them, and well so.
Got to come out in the 2nd half with more resolve on finishing, though.

Reasonably happy with that. Allen and Lucas doing well, Allen should have buried that chance. Clyne needs to be a bit more adventurous as well.

Lallana, Coutinho and Firmino all need to step their game up and we can get a goal here.

Be so disappointed if we don't go through - they're pretty ordinary. Bruno looks a player and needs closing down better but apart from that ... meh

At the start I had no idea why Sturrdige wasn't on the pitch... at half time I have no idea why Sturridge isn't on the pitch

Villarreal are quite possibly the most unorthodox team we've played this season. They play counter attacking football but have just 1 pacy player. As for us we just look impotent.
