depressing but I agree. Although if we get a world class manager I think Torres and Reina will stick around for another season. Torres and Reina's problems right now are tactics. Maybe someone with attacking football can convince them to stay. I hope so though.

a good manager and showing some intent will keep nando here (just about - kinda like with gerrard in 2004) - from the sounds of things reina is sticking around with his comments about how we'll challenge for the title next season

I can think of only two reasons why they would leak this now;
1)They are confident they will be able to get the man they want in soon, and that the switch from Hodgson to the new man will happen fairly shortly.
2)They know they'll only be able to get the man they want in the summer, so leak this out to try and reduce the volume of the fans disquiet so that Hodgson can limp along till the summer when they can make the change.

At the moment 2) feels the more likely to me, but let's hope it's 1).
Agree with that. Suspect it's 2) though. :(

Hard to attract any quality Jan signings when you the managerial situation is like this. In coming players will be reading the rags and knowing that the manager of today won't be the manager of tomorrow.

I hardly think that players want to walk into a situation of uncertainty. That is, unless they are compensated sufficiently (see Joe Cole, Jovanovic last summer).

For me, Kenny is the only candidate who should be considered right now. He should be given the job until the end of the season. No other fucker, just Kenny and only Kenny. It has simply got to be him. Firstly, there is not a man on gods green earth at this moment in time who could possibly command more respect in our dressing room than Kenny Dalglish. There are quiet a few players in our first team who need to be told to get their fucking thumbs out of their arses and start playing like they actually give a fuck about the club that they are meant to be representing. We all know who they are, and like most of todays over paid, sulky prima-donna players, they would probably get the hump over receiving a dressing down like that. But I bet my bottom dollar not one single one of them would have the bollox to stand up against, or speak out against Kenny. Because they will know that if they did, they would feel the full and absolute wrath of the fanbase.

The man simply commands too much respect, and that respect could actually make the players fear for their very survival at the club. I can guarantee you Steven Gerrard wouldn't be moaping around with his hands on his hips and a scowl on his face if Kenny was in the dug out. No fucking way. Because he would be informed in sharpish time that such behavior by the captain would not be tolerated. Nor would Carra be so willing to scream at other players even though the person deserving the bollocking is actually Carra himself.

There would be a tidal wave of change if Kenny came in. Kenny is essentially, the number 1 iconic living figure of Liverpool football club. If the players don't give their all for him, then quiet frankly they can fuck off. Who knows, we may even weed out a few of the journey men who are happy to pick up a pay cheque without actually earning the fucking thing. And another thing that is certain, the atmosphere will go up a few decibels. I'm pretty sure the chants of "Libpool Libppol" will be sang more gusto if its a Liverpool team with Kenny Dalglish as manager. He would unite us, and could actually put us on a run that could see us challenge for 5th or 6th place, who knows, maybe even higher. Give it to Kenny until May I say. Then we can assess who the best man is to take us forward

Exactly Andy.  I find it quite sad that we've been reduced to this in just 6 months.  Everything about the club has been laid bare for all insundry to see and mock, and you know there are plenty out there loving the position we're in.

This whole sorry period in our history can't come to an end soon enough for me.  Perhaps then we can look forward to a fresh outlook and a much brighter future.

He is a proven premiership manager who understands the english way of playing football and would do a great job for the club.

He was sacked from Villa because, even though they had bigger wage bills than Spurs and possibly Arsenal, he could not get them into the CL. Yet he still wanted more money invested in the squad. He never rotates, which probably scuppered their chances of fourth because with their two cup runs the players were knackered for the league run in.
He is not what we need.
There really isn't.  I think a lot of us, even our own have started doubting it. It's time to rise up. And take what is rightfully ours. It's a big mountain, but what is the point in achieving something, which everyone can?

If this information is directly attributable to briefing by Fenway, I will be disappointed. We would then be getting back to the bad old days of leaks and gossip-driven media management. With a similar briefing being put about that Rafa was not in FSG's plans, it's a worrying trend - if genuinely from Fenway rather than good guesswork.

My own view was that if they definitely didn't want Rafa, they should have said so, or said nothing. In this case, if they are going to sack Hodgson, then bloody do it now. If not, then say nothing. This leak (if genuine) just undermines everything and creates even more feverish speculation. It most certainly wont calm the fans or the players.

If it's a prelude to RH "resigning" after the match tomorrow, fair enough, though still the wrong way to go about things. I was really hopeful that we wouldn't be back here with whispering campaigns through the media.

I hope my fears are misplaced.
