Just like last week, another opportunity has presented itself.

Southampton are in freefall - 3 defeats and a draw in their last 5 with only one goal scored.

Utd won, but that was expected, and they have a horrific fixture list in March/April where their wheels will come off.

Just need a result tomorrow and the bitters to do us a favour at the Emirates and we could be looking at another great weekend for our progress.
I've got OCD, but I prefer to call it CDO so it's in alphabetical order.

For the last couple of years our meetings with City in the 2nd half of the season have sent shivers down my spine because they  always seem to come at crucial moment for us.. but we generally manage to come out of it with something and that gives me a bit of hope here again.

I think Yaya once said that the match he played against us (can't remember which one) was the best in terms of tactics and everything.. he has ever played in his entire life. That explains the intensity of this fixture and here we are again where only a win would make sense for both the parties involved but only one team can get that.

I hope it's us... and a 40000 others would be of the same opinion tomorrow and that's a bonus City can't afford.

Don't particularly think we have anything to lose - the wins over Southampton and Spurs have meant a draw will be good in this - a win utterly fantastic. A loss would be very disappointing but not the end of the world with our winnable fixtures over the next few weeks.

Sterling was gash the other night, and has been for a few weeks. I'd prefer to see Markovic in his position, and Ibe in the team. Having said that, Manquillo could be a good shout, as city could rip us a new one if we don't have anyone to contain them.

The first half last year blew my mind. We were incredible. City were equally as impressive in clawing their way back into the contest.

Disliking the lack of activity in here the night before a huge game.

On a separate matter, I hope everyone is up for it in the ground tomorrow. We all know about these early kick-offs and atmosphere etc.

I have a good feeling about this. City can't handle skillful intricate passing as proved by Barcelona. They will find it tough again against Coutinho and co. too.

Maybe it's just a EL hangover. Having said that, the players have their own role in playing to a tempo that the fans can get behind.

A EL hangover. Its exactly what we dont need from the players or support. Hopefully the ground will be hopping tomorrow.

Wish I could go myself.

Agree with this.

Our win at Southampton last week made this a freebie for us really....obviously we go for the win as we always should at Anfield but it's probably a blessing afterall having this fixture after the Europa drama

I say 2-1 to the redmen!
They'll try keep Coutinho and Sterling locked down. Hopefully Markovic can run them ragged!
I reckon it'll be a game that takes a while to get going and we could be getting a late winner after a lot of sparring

Our analysis team should have learned a lot by watching the Barca game the other night. they ripped City to shreds. Granted, we are a level or two below barca, but we have plenty of plays that can beat a man and we have good fluidity. Hopefully, we can drag Company & Co out of position and get some clear sights on goal.

It's a painful game to look back on when you consider how things unfolded.

What a day it was at the time though. We were on fire in that first half. Then in the second, City like you said were equally good and carved us open. The fact that they played so well only made it our late winner more impressive.

Our best win of last season. The thrashings of Spurs, Everton, Arsenal and United were all great, but none of those teams were/are as good as City.

Hasn't Rodgers said that what we saw against Besisktas was pretty much the team we'll see against City tomorrow, with just maybe Coutinho coming back in? If so, we really could have used Sakho in that back three.

-_- The squad was Williams and a couple other kids. I think he only took them to Turkey for the experience they'd gain. I highly doubt they'll start against City.

would prefer Sturridge to score a few, on thursday he looked a little short on confidence. or rather lacking the killer mentality.

Why is kickoff so early? 7:00AM here in Philadelphia. I guess there will be a lot of Asian fans tuning in for this one. Pretty soon we'll see kickoffs at 11, 10, 9AM.....

Just glad I don't live further west.

I'll be watching from bed. This might be a rough one. City are looking to close the gap on Chelsea and to get it together after being exposed by Barca.

I'm sure the Asian market has a lot to answer for, but this is entirely Sky's doing. They wanted to televise both our game and Arsenal v Everton, and since both us and Everton played on Thursday, and there are midweek games coming up next week, both these games had to be played on Sunday. And since the League Cup final was already planned for 4pm, one of these two had to kick off at noon.

Early kickoff probably because they need a lot of live TV time with LFC-MCFC, Arsenal-Everton, and then the Carling Cup final.
