Urban Voodoo Machine... Sun 15th May at The Leaf in Bold street. A nine piece crazy bunch of men and woman dressed in red and black, weird 2 drummers ,The Priest on double bass.

Brilliant live band with 3 great studio albums under their belt as well. A whole range of instruments on stage played by a band that cover many genres of music...believe me this is an experience you will never forget from the moment they they come on stage and play the Godfather theme which in turn leads into their own signature tune. Then just about anything can happen!

Probably the best live band I've ever seen.

The Manics put on as good a show as usual at the Echo tonight - played Everything Must Go in it's entirety and then returned to play 8/9 tracks from over the years.  Clearly have a soft spot for Liverpool - James spoke about engaging with an awful lot of Liverpool's cultural exports during his formative years.

Thought Editors were really good in support too - it's years since I've been to a gig where the support are so well-renowned that they draw a significant following of their own, but there were loads of Editors t-shirts around and the atmosphere for their support set was really good.

Great to see a 'Justice' banner unfurled up in the stands too - only spotted it right at the end...was that there throughout, or did it appear during 'If You Tolerate This...' (which was the song during which I spotted it)?

Gutted I missed it. Did they play SYMM? They've always been big supporters of the Hillsborough campaign haven't they, I remember them playing at the Rock the Kop event in 1997.

Had a fantastic night on Saturday watching the Liverpool Mozart Orchestra play at the Capstone Theatre.

Fantastically talented musicians, a beautiful venue, and a great and varied programme of music.

Boss night.

Not the usual type of thing for this thread, I know, but it was a gig all the same!

Parquet Courts for me at the Invisible Wind Factory tonight, my first time at the venue. Apparently it is being run by some of the old Kaz team so fingers crossed it's half as good as that. Parquet Courts last gig in Liverpool was possibly my favourite ever at the Kaz, it was bouncing.

Further ahead i have Sun Kil Moon in Manchester next month, Explosions in the Sky at the Phil in September (i think) and the Levellers at the Academy in December. Will certainly be hoping to get a few more added to that before the end of the year but it depends what comes up.

In other news i saw the Lift to Experience at the Festival Hall in London on Saturday in their first gig in about 15 years, the talk is they're releasing a remastered Texas-Jerusalum Crossroads later in the year and there could a tour to coincide with it, i would absolutely love for them to come to Liverpool, it'd be brilliant.

That's a good itinerary!

I was at the Kaz PC gig as well, something else wasn't it!

the Invisible Wind Factory should be good, I'm going to an all dayer there next month which will be my first time.

Lift To Experience are a great band, dead jealous! As you say, hope they come to Liverpool!

PC was bouncing again, they really are a brilliant live band. Good venue as well - immediately gone to the top of my list of favourite gig venues in Liverpool despite the fact it's out of the centre and in the wrong direction from me.

Yeah it's ridiculous, cheapest ticket is £70

Same with Brian Wilson £60 and £70, think I'll stick with my memories of the Philharmonic from last year.

When to the Music Room annexe of the Phil to watch a Pink Floyd looky likey band and, though I know nothing about acoustics, thought the sound was excellent. Without getting too technical they had these big fuckoff things all along the walls which I assume help acoustics, the band was average.
