Unsuccessful. Went for category 4 though. Glad really as I couldn't really afford it.

Same mate.  Didn't tick the box accept ticket in other categories. Could of made a difference who knows

Also successful for 2 tickets, category 1 but was flexible.

Unsuccessful as well. Went for category two I think and would accept either side.

Should be sorted through the club with three aways and all homes (if we get there) but would've been nice to already have it boxed/sort some mates out who've been relying on spares

Unsuccessful. Went for the 2nd cheapest and was flexible, but nada. Daft place to have a European final really. It was a nice, compact ground when we went, but nothing special and not enough capacity if two well supported teams get there + the Uefa circus.

Yes, category 3 in the corner. They might not process all of them at once so might still be hope for people! If we get past Dortmund flights are getting booked
Prices for Basel flights are rising already , if we get past Dortmund they might rocket , I got flights with Easyjet for £55 return and hotel prices are already through the roof so have booked with a free cancellation if need be , most I can lose £55 its worth the gamble for me .

Anyone successful in the ballot that took place earlier this week? Still going to go if we don't make it for a nice trip to Basel?

What do we reckon the criteria would be for a final? I will have all homes and at least 2 aways

Genuine question as I will book IF we beat BVB

What the options for getting there (that others might no yet have thought of?).
Flights to Basel will be very thin on the ground.

Is there an obvious place to go and then train in, or Eurostar or anything? I can't work it out.

You'll be guaranteed

9000 tickets so all with 8+ matches will be fine (3500 maximum or thereabouts) everyone on 7 into a monster ballot

That's of course if they do the priorities like they always have. Only thing on 7 matches they may split and give priority to STH's

Know it's a way off but will there be day trips for the final? Was there one for the group game in 2014?

Doesn't Swiss air space shut between midnight and 6pm so presumably you can't fly out of Basel after the game

Thomas Cook did the day trips when we were last in the CL for the Basel game. They had to get special permission to fly that late.

Hotels are like £300 and £500 now already in Basel.
Wonder if it's easy to get somewhere outside with trains running late into the night like Dortmund or could be tricky if they don't.

p.s. UEFA were probably paid lots of money for it

p.s. p.s. the Super Cup is in a random city in the North of Norway...Trondheim :-\

If we get there we will deffo be staying outside of Basel, looking at flights and can't see any way of doing it for less than 200 so gonna look into driving

Have a look at a place called Lorrach, in Germany.

We didn't stay there, but spent the day of the match there as the ale was about a third of the price. It was then a very easy bus or train ride into Basel to watch the game.

Nice one I'll have a look at them, I've looked at staying in Mulhouse in France which is cheap, the only problem is travel! Whatever way you do it, it's looking like £200+. I looked at flying to Paris then get the train from Paris to Mulhouse but the train from Paris costs £140 return! It's a lot of money to pay on the strength of us bein in a semi final (if we get there). I reckon driving is going to be the cheapest way of getting there as flights are going to go up and up

Prices flying to Basel are just starting to rise now you should still be able to get one for under £100 return but it's whether you want to gamble on it or not , I paid £55 a month ago for mine , the transport links are excellent in the area

Where is that flying from? I can't find any return flights for less than £130, even airports down south.

Thats whats uefa is doing now. In 2018 or 2020 something it will be in my hometown Tallinn, which stadium currently holds 10k, but they will need to upgrade it to 15k to held the super cup there.

I mean 15k to split between everyone...

We did that for Dortmund, had to get a 4 hour nightbus back to Bremen after the match! Won't be doing it again! Too much hassle and a ballache going 2 days without sleep!

if we get there works out fine for me I finish a weeks Cruise around the Greek Islands in Venice on the Sunday before the final so pack the mrs off on her own back to UK whilst I make the 9 hour train journey from Venice to Basel
