All Together Now

I love this tune. Love it for its understated contribution in ending a shite trend of synth pop many of us endured in the 80's. Also love it for advocating sport and socialism as a means to bring groups of people *together* rather than trying to separate (fuck off Cameron & Osborne you silver spooned twats).

Anyway, I'll get to the point here and say yesterday hurt.

- It hurt because on the biggest domestic stage of all we were wretched for 63 mins and allowed an in-form Chelsea every opportunity to take control of the game.
- It hurt because for the remaining 27 mins we dominated yet couldn't find a 2nd goal to stretch the match into extra time and possibly beyond. (Credit to Cech for that astonishing save. Almost Dudek-esque).
- It hurt because the narrative of the season (probably correctly) will be written as one of failure, where chronic profligacy and the nervous driven hyper-activity of our attacking play in the league overshadowed some impressively cutting and countering attacking football in knock-out matches.
- It hurt for many other reasons too, but I refuse to lower myself to the same levels of bile shown by those plastics who thought it entertaining to disrespect a minutes silence.

But there you go. LFC has produced moments of unparalleled joy in my lifetime, but the game can also shit on you from a great height, as it did yesterday. Redemption, thankfully, is just around the corner in the form of a new season.

Whatever next season brings and regardless of the unanswered questions that always seem to swirl around the club, it's 'All together now' though..... right? At least that's a start!

Hmmm. Just read this back. Other than the quality music it's pretty rambling and pointless, so hope someone can find something useful to reply to :P

Awful song. Awful season.
It’s easy to believe when it’s going well.

Always loved this song.
Particularly the video.  Great faces. Great characters.
As a kid, weren't the square crash barriers just so much better?

Wow...

Not my type of song in any shape or form. Trite would be my honest assessment. Lyrically and melodically weak.

Are we allowed opinions on here?

David Platt has a face like a Michael Myers mask being stretched over a dinosaur egg.
Aquilani is better than Pele, Maradona, Cruyff, Messi and Beckenbauer put together.

You're entitled to an opinion but 'awful' goes a bit beyond that.

Lyrically weak?

Remember boy that your forefather's died
Lost in millions for a country's pride
Never mention the trenches of Belgium
When they stopped fighting and they were one

A spirit stronger than war was at work that night
December 1914 cold, clear and bright
Countries' borders were right out of sight
They joined together and decided not to fight

All together now, all together now
All together now in no man's land (together)
All together now (all together), all together now (alltogether)
All together now (together, together)
In no man's land (together, together)

The same old story again
All those tears shed in vain
Nothing learnt and nothing gained
Only hope remains

All together now, all together now
All together now in no man's land (together)
All together now (all together), all together now (alltogether)
All together now in no man's land (together)
All together now (all together now), all together now (alltogether now)
All together now (together, together)
In no man's land (together, together)

The boys had their say, they said no (all together now)
Stop the slaughter, let's go home
Let's go, let's go (all together now)
Let's go (all together now), let's go home
All together now (together, together)
In no man's land (together, together)
All together now (all together now), all together now (alltogether)
All together now (together, together)
In no man's land (together, together)

I don't think so. Powerful lyrics and a powerful sentiment behind them. And melodically it's based on Pachelbel's Canon as I'm sure you know - not a bad bit of music and the melody works well with the lyrics and chord sequence.

All Together Now played by the Farm on the last day of the standing Kop.

One of the most used melodies in pop music:

I Should Be So Lucky by Kylie
Go West by The Pet Shop Boys
Altogether Now by The Farm
Life goes on by Tupac
I'll C U when you get there by Coolio....

....and countless others have all been based on/influenecd by this melody.

Still a great tune.
