#LFC line up tonight: Liverpool: Karius, Clyne, Lovren, Klavan, Milner, Lucas, Can, Wijnaldum, Lallana, Firmino, Sturridge.

#LFC subs v #SaintsFC: Mignolet, Moreno, Gomez, Stewart, Coutinho, Origi, Woodburn
Pleased with that lineup and attacking options on the bench.

Really hope we won't be stubborn with 433 and shoehorn Lallana wide. For me he should be in the center in the thick of the action so hopefully it'll be a diamond or something like that as 433 with this personnel is simply nowhere near balanced.

Not sure if changing the keeper is the right thing to do but I suppose it could potentially increase his confidence.
Tend to agree with you needs to get a good game under his belt.

Should be enough to beat Southampton but that is strange line up. Could we be going with a Diamond?

Think I would of had Stewart ahead of Lucas also.

Hope Lucas doesn't do his norm and give away silly fouls.

It's great to see Sturridge start again. Nice to see Coutinho on the bench, too.

If we end up playing the Mancs without henderson and matip as well as Mane it'll be really annoying - they seem to constantly catch breaks when we play them.
Great to see Coutinho on the bench.

How the fuck Lucas is still getting minutes in our midfield... he's definitely doing witch craft or something

Think were resting Matip and Henderson for the weekend, can't be taken chances on them when we got a massive game on Sunday that they need to be 100% for.

Depends how you look at it. If we had strength in depth rather than relying on a thread bare squad then we wouldn't give them the breaks or anyone else.

Good team! Though feels a bit too respectful of them as an attacking force but Klopp is a cup (and league) beast!! Nice to be able to field a side with so much quality without Matip, Hendo, Coutinho and Mane but hope one of Matip or Hendo can go on Sunday. Probably unlikely as they are the breaks Utd always get.

A rather strong line up by the gaffer.

Looking to put this to bed in the first leg it seems.
I watched a YouTube video and decided that Paul Konchesky looked like a player.

It's the match fitness thing I'm talking about Lads. Hendo has a better chance imo, because he hasn't been out as long. Hopefully both can make it though.

yeah I agree - Matip probably can't jump right back in. Such a shame that a day to day injury cost him 1 month+

Really looking forward to the game now. Southampton are a strong side. They've been somewhat unlucky lately and they had by far the worst fixture congestion over the christmas period. That being said, I'm going with 3-1 to us - Sturridge x2, lallana and Van Dijk.  :wave

Not sure if changing the keeper is the right thing to do but I suppose it could potentially increase his confidence.

I think Klopp might have told Migs and Karius that the 2nd choice goalkeeper will start all the cup games no matter what - similar to how Barca played Ter Stegen throughout their whole CL campaign the other year when they won it. Could be wrong though.

Interesting that Origi didn't make the starting line-up. With Mane away and Coutinho working his way back to fitness, I would've thought that we would see a fair amount of Origi-Sturridge-Firmino as the front three.

Strong bench though. Let's do this boys!!!

You don't like the semi being over two legs?
He likes his semi to be between two legs.
Maybe I am a bit childish, but much as I love a good cup run,  the opportunity it presents for unleashing cheap knob gags along the way is just the icing on the cake.

I would take 0-0 in a two legged tie, even a 0-1 losss wouldn't be dreadful, as it would fire us up for the home leg.

He's been poor for a few matches now. Anyway, good lineup that with decent options off the bench. I hope Coutinho gets a good 20-30 minutes as well.

I'm concerned about Henderson's absence though, he probably won't be fit in time for the United game.

0-0 wouldn't be a train smash, i'd be confident of turning over a 1-0 loss here as well, but I think the thinking from Klopp today is get the job done and then field a slightly weakened team at Anfield.
