Boy does that make for depressing reading...
It's only the first three that are the issue there. And fortunately we're going into the game relatively well rested. After those three we will be playing the second team once or twice and will be more able to rotate (and sub!) our attack a little with coutinho and sturridge back (before mane leaves).

We just need a bit of that luck klopp talked about, with injuries and the odd decision, and we can come out of this crazy period as well as (or better) than our rivals

We need Coutinho back asap to manage. I'd be very annoyed if Klopp didn't go into the transfer market, we just don't have the depth to cope

Didn't expect us to be done any favours today, but anything other than a win could be severely damaging. Could easily get dragged into the race for the top 4 as opposed to a title challenge if we put in a West Ham-type performance. Minds need to be right tomorrow, and stay right should we take the lead.

Here is my goodly neighbour bard on the current fixture congestion:
“Yet but three come one more.
Two of both kinds make up four.”

Todays results should not have filled many bookies pockets, but we are also favourite for the win, let's go at it with confidence and still play the long game. Then after we can say:

“O wonderful, wonderful, and most wonderful wonderful! And yet again wonderful, and after that, out of all hooping.”

I'd be rotating Origi and Studge over the next 3 games. One gets Stoke and Sunderland the other gets City.

Possibly go Studge against Stoke and Sunderland.

Annoyed? Fuck me, why not have a bit of faith that Klopp is making decisions for the future as well as the now and bringing in players in January might not fit in terms of style of play or fitness etc.

Anyway, looking forward to tomorrow night and keeping the pressure on the rentboys

Great to have a home game. Always, for ages, just thought... good to be at home on Boxing Day. And when we got spawned out to the day after...  'good to be at home the day after Boxing Day'.

Going to have to play with the black pieces for a game or two. Some excellent lines as black... just been looking into the Budapest gambit. 1. d4 Nf6  2. c4 e5!? It's good. 5:30 v City Saturday too. Good to be at home. Some lights... some Christmas roar, no other games on... Stoke. What a good set up. Some off field shit too. Let's get it on.

I'm really enjoying this season. Seems to be a lot more 'stories' being writen and rewritten almost every month... more than usual anyway. Don't know if anyone else feels like that. Is it the Leicester effect or more complicated? More complicated.

City running away with it, Chelsea out of it, Chelsea running away with it, Unted out of it, Arsenal in it then out of it, then Spurs are in it then yer know... maaaybe, then we're the main rival, then could, then won't, then might etc etc. Chelsea are in the box seat and hats doffed, but they've got 5 teams sniffing.

I think we'll continue our good form at Anfield, where we've been unbeatable for a while now, and keep up the pressure. I also think we'll come out of late December and January in an even better position than we are now.

One other thing that I think is important... is to concentrate on the here and now and not give too much thought to transfers and all that shite... if we all spend our enegies on the current team and what's lying directly ahead I think we'd all be better off. Let them sort that out... let them do what they have to do.

Only after penalties. I doubt Stoke will win tomorrow, they could but I think we'll get at least a draw.

Just fucking win. That's all redmen.
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

But if he doesn't, then if he doesn't get one against City, they reset anyway after the New Year.

Eh?! We lost the game in 90 minutes,  no further goals in extra time bur won on penalties. It's fair to say we lost on the night though so I guess that was our last defeat. Better than giving United the credit for it anyway!

Oh yeah, sorry, I even saw the Wikipedia page on our results last season before posting that! ;D

I think it was that game, but I remember some Stoke fan behind the goal trying to put off our players when they were taking their penalties. Didn't work at all! :)

No he won't and before anyone says it, he should be able to play Chelsea on the day of his court case because the match is at night and he himself doesn't have to personally appear at the court, just a representative.

Just go and win this game. Just a professional performance is needed.

Come on Origi. We have to be acreful of their attack. It can cause us problems. An iot of complaceny we will get done by them. We have to be careful

Would love an explosive front 3 of Mane Sturridge and Origi for this one, with Firmino off the bench. He has been a bit off pace recently, and coming on later in the game may help him. Also think Sturridge deserves the start after his cameo vs Everton.

I see the point of resting Firmino.. more so after his off field stupidity..
But going with Origi, Mane and Sturridge might leave us a bit exposed in midfield..

Firmino doesn't just create and score.. he starts the press and does plenty of defensive work in the opposition half.. He gives time for our midfield to be set and ready for the press..

Even without the goals and assists, Klopp values him..

I would personally go for, Firmino, Sturridge, Mane for Stoke..

Dont really think that a home game vs Stoke is one where we need to be worried about being defensively exposed. Your point may be valid for the City game. We anyway play 3 in midfield, where Lallana operates from deep, so the bodies in midfield are definitely there to shield our defence when necessary.

Just being cautious.. playing a day after everybody (especially when they all win) is not ideal..

And Stoke under Hughes are no mugs.. This season we have dropped points against team we weren't too worried about on here.. (Burnley, Bournemouth, West Ham) And even United actually as many said we would twat them given our form..

And while it doesn't count for much, Stoke were the last team to beat us at home in January..

It's probably an occasion Stoke could do without and Peter Crouch's legs ain't gonna like how cold it is today.
