The revisionism that occurs after one strike is astonishing. Talk about results writing stories. I watched the Merseyside derby, Everton were rancid until the last 5 minutes when Liverpool dropped deep and got caught out by a long range shot. Up to that Everton had been spooning shots out of play, Lukaku had been peripheral, Naismith had been slower than Gerrard and Barry should have had four yellow cards.
Had Jagielka's shot flown over the media would be writing Martinez's managerial obituary. He buries it and today Martinez is a hero. Fine lines is one thing, but that's just willfully ignoring the fact that Everton this year are struggling, badly. I had a gander on GOT, they were heralding the draw as a victory (cheerfully ignoring the fact they are 1 win from 6 and shite again at the weekend). In fairness, toffeetalk were far more realistic (and worried). Conclusion: GOT is full of delusional teenagers (the thread on their new stadium - the one they have agreed to talk about building if they can win the lottery or something - is eyebrow raising).
