I bet Tony Adams had to log in to Fifa 17 quickly to check the positions of his players before picking the squad.

Don't be ridiculous, I'm sure Spain have some sort of Match of the Day equivalent for him to catch up on, it probably even has subtitles.

For those of us over a certain age (30+ ?) he was one of the biggest names in English football for over a decade. 4 time title winning captain, England captain during one of their most memorable ever tournaments, regular on the front and back pages throughout the 90s.

Think of it this way - imagine if John Terry disappears off the radar for the next 10 years and suddenly pops up out of nowhere as a La Liga manager - that's what it's like.

Even still, it's just bizarre and won't end well. His managerial history is pretty lame.

Yeah, even though he was captain in 89 and 91 he had that whole Donkey nickname.  Think he was the one given the runaround by Van Basten in Euro 88. Euro 96 was some redemption and then that goal seems to sum up the whole change in approach at Arsenal under Wenger.

Agreed though, terrible management very odd decision. Up there with David Platt trying to keep Sampdoria up!

There is a bronze statue of that moment, a left foot half volley after being played through by centre back partner Steve Bould..... those were the days when Wenger was magic.
A bloody long time ago now.
As for Adams, I thought his team dominated for 70 minutes and conceded against the run of play. But once the second went in their heads went, like modern day Arsenal, with even less quality.

I hope the FBI's behavioural science unit is monitoring this thread and gets the IP addresses of the 6 people who voted "Yes, he'll make an excellent manager, at the highest level"

They can then contact the relevant countries authorities and have the said voters monitored, arrested and detained for their own and everyone else safety.

Interesting why he's taken on a job with a team that was already destined to be playing in the Segunda B division next season. If he stays on and fails to bring them back up, he'd probably top the achievements of even David Moyes and Gary Neville.

He's just covering for them until the end of the season before he goes back to his upstairs job. They were bound to be relegated anyway, so this isn't really going to hurt his managerial stock too much.

Their squad requires a massive overhaul, it's mostly comprised of loanees at the moment. So, it's going to be a tough job for them to come straight back up next season anyway. Very unlikely that Adams will be tasked with that job.

To be fair Adams and Bould shouted at anyone in front of him who didn't put a shift in and did a lot of Wenger's hard work for him.  I'm sure he'd have hacked down Ozil in training to get him out of the lineup for the next game, he wanted Arsenal to win every game that much.

I remember a game at Anfield when you lot / and Adams were in your pomp.....he was going through our attackers like a knife through fuckin butter....after the 2nd/3rd assault on Fowler, one of our side attempted to remonstrate ....to be met with Adam's uber psycho glare / bared teeth and 'Do you want some?...do you want some?'  ;D...was going nuts at him at the time , but realise now (and then if I'm honest ) what an absolute fuckin beast of a player he was......would kill for someone of his stature in our defence right now .....Souness was probably the last player we had who commanded such levels of respect mixed with utter fear from his team-mates....those legendary LFC sides of the early 80's set their own impossibly high standards (and lived up to them) but woe betide anyone who didn't give it their all with Souey on the pitch....
