RIP. Horrendous thing to have happened, and his son being there as well.

I remember going to see my little brother play quite a few years back - he must have been about 14. Parents and even the coaches were shouting some terrible things at the kids, coaches were arguing and nearly ended up in a punch up because one of the opposition players was being slightly over the top in his tackles. What sort of example is it to the kids when even the coaches and their parents can't behave?

.....which is exactly the reason why I stopped refereeing. Now it seems we're not even safe running up and down the line with a flag. :(

I wouldn't want to do it. On an occasion that I went after the above incident I was actually asked to run the line, and although I agreed I was relieved when someone else offered to do it - couldn't give the flag away quick enough.

Absolutely ridiculous. No other work for it. Do them all for murder and have them tried as adults. They have the gall to take away a mans' life over a game of football, see how they like it with dirty dutch men behind them.
