Aquilani please - would be just like KK to play someone no-one is taking about from the youth team as well

                        Doni

Flanno       Soto      Skrtel       Robo

            Spearing   Shelvey

       Raul                         Maxi

        Ngog or Kuyt     Carroll

Would like Ngog to start or feature, but I guess they won't want to play him if there's interest in him from English clubs.

If Kuyt starts there's more options. i.e. two up front or out wide with Raul in behind Andy.

Strong enough team, with the idea of getting some match time into several, especially Raul, Shelvey & Maxi.

I really hope Suso plays in this game, I am starting to lose hope that he will make it here after so much promise.

I feel the same way about raheem! so much promise but at 16, he really must prove himself now. And what about that kid that we brought from west brom, the 14 year old, bout time he scored a hattrick or two. Loosing all hope, I am...

Come on, his not even turned 18 yet, and people are starting to worry he's not going to make it. How about let the kid develop at his level and when he's ready Kenny will look to blood him in. There's no rule in football saying that you have to make your debut before your 18th birthday or else your NEVER EVER going to make it at this football club. What the hell is with all this panic and impatience, people just think because a kid is a a good player, they automatically deserve to be thrown in whether their 15,16 or 17, when its not really their level. If he plays great, if not Kenny knows he's not in the top 18 to make the matchday squad yet. It's not shame when you're 17 and can't make the team, considering we've got current and former internationals like Cole and Maxi unable to seize a position as well.

for varying reasons, i wouldn't like to see Pepe, Agger, Lucas, Suarez, Cole and Poulsen play.

a good mix of "first 11", serious squad players and 1 or 2 youngsters on the bench.

perhaps somthing like this:

doni
flanagan - kelly - skrtel - robinson
henderson - spearing - adam - maxi
kuyt - carroll

subs from: pepe, carra, enrique, raul, downing, coady, sterling

Had a dream last night where we lost 7-5 - The new lad was in goal and had a 'mare :)

Might be worth a Ģ5 punt - I imagine the odds would be fairly good for that :D

Really interested to see what sort of team Kenny puts out here. Let's face it, I don't think many of us have a clue.

Would love Sterling to play some of the game...also interested to see if Wilson gets a game in his CB role. Think Skrtel will start to get some match fitness.

You can opt to keep silent if you have nothing good to say.  Why splash cold water on our team at the start of the season?  A lost here means that our youth development would be severely curtailed since we have bought so many new players.  Can you imagine if you are Robinson/Flanno or Spearing working their hearts out to help Liverpool get to 6th and then have to be benched this year because of our squad depth.  Younger players like Coady/Suso and Sterling etc may opt to leave if they do not get discovered like Flanno/Kelly or Spearing within the next 2 seasons.  Yes, I think that at 17 (next year), Sterling can be ready like Owen or Gerrard. Playing them at 16 is encouraging them to settle on a career in Liverpool and to work hard for a place in the first team.  Once we meet better teams, we should use our first team with one or 2 younger players.

Of course it'll be nice to stay in the cups as long as possible. But we know what we are like when it comes to the lower leagues.

But the youth team still has their champions league competition along with the youth league and the reserves so its not the be all end all for them

I think it is something we need to be VERY careful with.

We cannot afford another embarrassment like last season, and with no European football this season, a good run in the Carling Cup, resulting in our first trip to the new Wembley, there is a good opportunity here.

I agree we should play "squad players" but we need to make sure we don't take this game lightly!

Could be a good game for Joe Cole to get his eye for goal back. We may as well have him feature as he is still an LFC player...unless he is on the verge of moving. If there is no Joe we should put Sterling into the match squad.

I wouldn't mind seeing us field as close to our first choice XI as possible - i.e. approach it like we would a league game.

We still need time to gel as a unit and a competitive cup match (albeit against lower league opposition) will really stand to us. My two cents anyway.

Be interesting to see if the likes of Cole, Aquilani, Poulsen, etc etc start this game or not. Its a good sign when Kenny can change his whole 11 from one game to the next and still manage to name a half decent side.

I don't know why, but that really made me laugh :-D

Anyway, looking forward to this. Hope Sterling gets some experience, this is the sort of game we should be blooding him in. Maybe not  a start, but at least 20 mins from the bench, say. If you're good enough, you're old enough as the old cliche has it.

I want us to take this game very seriously and go for the jugular.

However, I do not want to see Agger, Lucas, Johnson or Suarez to play due to fatigue (Lucas and Suarez), ease of injury complications (Agger) and rushing back before fit (Johnson). Everyone else should be played as per usual for me.

I agree on the players you metnioned BUT Reina, Carra, Kelly, Downing, Hendo should all be rested and should not travel. I think we have Bolton next in the PL, would be nice to have a number of players who miss the long trip to Exeter. I still think we can take this game seriously whilst resting a few key players.

Agree with this except Agger, as I wouldn't mind seeing an Agger-Skrtel partnership getting a try, for what, the 3rd time in all their years at the club together?

Agger is so important to us, yet made of glass so I wouldn't want to run the risk of an injury to him in this game.
