They were talking about it on Sky Sports. They did however confirm that Chelsea have not bid for him (yet).

There's a £7,000,000 release clause in Ba's contract at Newcastle.

All over Twitter really, Sky saying reports suggest his agent is meeting with them tomorrow, Stan Collymore quizzed Chelsea reps over it and got a "no comment" reply back to them, seems pretty certain like.

Good signing for Chelsea as sure need a striker who can play with Torres or instead of.... Ba fits this. I think he is a touch overrated so 7.5 is a good deal but not a bargain as some make out. Be interesting how he makes the step up in class but with the likes of Mata, Hazard & Oscar behind has every chance. Still think he will be 3rd choice come the summer with Roman signing a star striker... Short term fix.

You know, he'll be decent for them, but no more. They have bigger problems than his signing will fix, they're really in need of a marquee signing, of the Falcao/Cavani ilk, not Demba Ba. Ba'll be more effective than Torres, but so would a paper bag.

Ba probably sees Chelsea as a more desirable destination at the moment. They can afford to pay him higher wages than us and compete for Champions League places.

Well we could offer him regular starts unlike Chelsea - but more to the point why weren't we 'all over him' in the summer

A better chance of getting him obviously, regular football aswell. We're not skint either we just decide to put the wrong players on big money contracts really.

Call me a crazy, but a 27 year old who is one injury away from retirement doesn't seem the most likely to go for regular footy at a rebuilding team over the prospect of Champions League football and higher wages.

Higher wages? He will be on 80,000 a week, which is clearly affordable for us, Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing are on 70,000, stop with this myth that we can't pay high wages.

Don't remember every peddling that myth.

Not sure where your figures about what he will be on at Chelsea have come from though, they only made contact today!

My opinion was based more around Chelsea generally higher wage bill than us, and the fact they have more spending power.

I'm not so sure. I mean you could say the same about van persie when he went to united. Albeit he's a better player than ba by a stretch. But sometimes you need to take a risk and I just think he'd be quality for us.

But surely in that situation Arsenal are us, and United are Chelsea. And Van Persie went with United.

Whereas they now have a manager who will be there for another 6 months and probably has no say in transfers at all.

Jordan Henderson on 70,000

Don't think so.

Let Ba go there, he'll be a bit part player and it will weaken Newcastle.

:lmao
Unbelievable.
And not because you've taken those wage figures off twitter from someone tweeting something off a computer game, either.
And 'clearly affordable' when we're looking to CUT our wage bill considerably? I wonder how anyone can be this dense, I really do.
