It was probably real, otherwise why would he imagine a terrorist cell (as Watson "lied" to him)

Spoiler
Looked to me as if he imagined it. He knew she was dead but clearly had a thing for her so in that romantic sort of way imagined what it would be like to save her. It then zoomed into her reaction which is what he would felt she did. It's to preposterous to be real IMO.

Mycroft gave the game away in the cafe when he said " the only person that could fool me would be Sherlock Holmes"

Too preposterous?

Have you followed the general tone of the show at all? In the 2nd episode of the first series he has a sword fight in his flat, fights an acrobat, and avoids injury whilst being shot at in a very narrow tunnel. The show is full of mental moments like that. Let's not confuse it for a serious take on things.

Got to love this show. A dominatrix and a geeky girl with zero self-assurance. That's good writing and casting.

True, also Sherlock doesn't strike me as someone who daydreams (especially as this Sherlock doesn't even take drugs) to avoid reality.

Spoiler
I have been following the tone of the show thanks and even in this episode, he dispossessed an armed man. That though was believable in the context of the show. For it to be real, he'd have had to infiltrate that Pakistani gang, what with him being white and them unlikely to be, and then fight off however many members of them and escape with her. He'd also have to be in Pakistan at the same time (obviously), in which case Watson would have known he was there, or at least not in London at the time when Mycroft said she'd died.

To be honest, it fits in with how Arthur Conan Doyle used to deal with deaths of characters. Great episode, can't believe I missed the first series. Next week is Hound of the Baskervilles, can't wait!

Can't wait for that either. It scared the shit out of me as a kid, I had an audio book of it. Gave me nightmares for ages! Think I can handle it now though.

Tonight's was great, quite the headfuck but very stylishly written and shot. His brother was one of the League of Gentlemen wasn't he? Looksike he was involved in the writing or production too.

Mark Gatiss, co-creater and writer. Very good he is in lots of stuff - his series on horror was excellent.

As for tonight - bloody hell, that was top-notch. Going to have to watch it again to catch everything I missed.
And I got a bit too excited when they announced Hound of the Baskervilles next week. Can't wait.
