For a country the size of NI, I don't know what more they could expect.

Spot on, it will be many years before a country the size of Non Iron gets through the European qualifying games for a major tournament.

Sanchez is a cock though.

He's one manager I really really can't stand.

If Worthington's contract isn't renewed I'd be chuffed if they overlooked Sanchez. It's such a sly thing to do.

Didn't he leave Northern Ireland to manage Fulham? Now he wants to go back? Hmmm

No offence intended to any NI citizens but, how good a job can be done with the pool of players available? I thought NI was notoriously the hardest management job in the national game.

Actually wonder how true that is - there are many worse sides and smaller countries but many of those are probably less into their football that the Northern Irish.

Must be one of the smaller populated football-loving nations and therefore the expectations are high.

Northern Irelands population is 1.9 million, so they should be around half as good as Uruguay.

You could nearly half that as many want to play for the republic.

A classless thing to do from Lawrie, but quite honestly i would have him back in the morning, the NI players played for him, had pride, passion in the shirt and a real belief that they could take on and beat anybody, but it won't happen the IFA don't want him back. Negative Nigel won't get his contract renewed thankfully, who we will get after that is anyones guess.

Even Phil McNulty, who can be considered twattish, came out on Twitter and as good as called Sanchez a c*nt, although it was a more polite BBC type version of the word c*nt.

Lawrie Sanchez is a big bellend who is itching to retake the NI job. I can't understand why another manager would come out and say something like that about a fellow professional.

Everything that ever comes out of his gob is vile shite, and that's because he's an utter twat of a man.

Should be sacked by Barnet for openly seeking employment from someone else while working there.

Worthington probably isn't doing a great job.

But if they sack him, they shouldn't hire Lawrie Sanchez.

Sanchez is just a snake trying to worm himself back into the job, and an even shitter manager to boot.

I'm not a fan of Mr. Sanchez at all. Last year he said that Liverpool "aren't a big club anymore"...

That said, as a pundit he is employed to give his opinion, so I've no problem with him doing that. It's some of the opinions themselves however that I disagree with, but that's punditry I suppose. Many fans will have pundits they like and pundits they're not so keen on.

Maybe cause its his country and he might find it an an honour to be asked to manage them, its not as if he's a wanted man at the minute so he cant afford to be fussy.

Why?

Be a bit dodgy if an Irish ex-Celtic manager took the Northern Ireland job.

The only thing you need to know about Lawrie can be found here in his win statistics:

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_Ireland_national_football_team

(and don't let Hightown Phil talk shite in your ear about statistics - I'm a Maths grad and statistics are the fucking bollocks)

There's also the 7th September 2005 to factor into any assessment of him as NI manager.

So as much as he's comes across as an arrogant twat and a bit of a c*nt I'd have him back tomorrow.

He must be incredibly confident to be talking like that, imagine he gets the job then fucks it up. He'd look a right bell end after this interview.

That's what I'm thinking / hoping....not that I have anything against the Northern Irish. Something about Sanchez I don't like - and I don't mean Wembley '88 either.

If the going got tough he'd walk like he did at Fulham.

There'd certainly be a large element that wouldn't.

Couldn't see him taking it to be honest, didn't he throw his name into the hat for the England job a few years ago?

A large element - I think that's complete bollocks. I'd say a tiny minority - why because he's Catholic?

We have no problems singing the praises of McCourt or Baird so don't see how anyone would have a problem if he gets us winning.

More to do with the fact he managed Celtic, I never said large majority if that's what you're implying, I said "amount", big difference mate. There are other players who've gotten plenty of shit because of their background and you know this Alan.

Sanchez is a complete c*nt for saying it publically though.
Anyway that's all I've to say in this thread.

But things have changed so much! Northern Ireland have led the way in anti-sectarianism and Celtic and Rangers could learn a lot from our supporters.

I find it strange that you say we would give him grief because he managed Celtic but yet our best player Paddy McCourt plays for them and we sing songs like the Messi of Northern Ireland.

I think Sanchez was wrong to say what he said but I'd still love him back to manage us although his form when he was at Fulham is a bit worrying.
